Thanks for all the ratings/articles Simone. The LA Times article was great. I love how the commercial was rated high! I loved it and I can't emphasize how perfect Timothee is as Edgar. I can't think of anyone who would have been better. Great job to the Marketing Dept at Cadillac and all those involved.

Thanks Tracy, glad you enjoyed the articles! This latest one is really great in explaining the incentive for A-list stars to be part of these super bowl commercials. And I'm so giddy they highlight Timmy as "Top Talent".

I am really enjoying all these articles, thanks for sharing! I love reading all the positive comments about Timmy. Winona talking about him is my favourite. is it noticeable that people are talking about the ad and Timmy who wouldn’t have been aware of him before? Not being in the US and only reading things about Timmy anyway gives me a very narrow view of things! I would love to get a feel of the bigger picture

I can't think of anyone who would have been better. Great job to the Marketing Dept at Cadillac and all those involved. It was great to learn that GM is a client of UTA, the same agency that manages Timmy's career. Makes it all the more easier to kill two birds with one stone in getting the agency's hottest young actor to work with their automotive company client. Perfect!

Here's another great article that makes the case for the Edgar Scissorhands film or a reboot of Edward Scissorhands. We have no idea if the topic has been discussed prior to the making of the commercial. But now that it's such a hit, it does make you wonder if the Tim Burton team is giving this some thought.

For me it has to be a new Edgar film rather than a remake. Having rewatched Edward Scissorhands at the weekend it is still a brilliant film that doesn’t seem 30 years old, and it is magical. It doesn’t need to be remade. There is definitely scope for a new film. There are plenty of social issues that can be explored through the story of this character. I am now thinking of a story line that is, something bad happens and Edgar looks sad so you want to hug him. Then something nice happens and you get to see that little smile. And The Hair. Ok, this started out as a more coherent thought then it ended up. I am rather in love with Edgar . It would have to be a new film with Timothée and Winona, obviously! A brand new Tim Burton project would be exciting too, even though I would love to see more of Timothée’s Edgar

I'm not a remake fan. Edward is a character with his own story. A story that has already been told. But Edgar? with Edgar, could start a new chapter. And Timothée! Timothée was wonderful. He gave to the character poetry, candor and that sweet oddness that makes Edgar unique. In the commercial he says two words. But his face, his eyes, the way he moves. Millions of emotions! He’s kind of a modern Buster Keaton. It’s much more than a commercial for a car, they created a little movie, which moved me and made me fall in love even more with Timothée. I'm proud of him and of his extraordinary talent.

^ Yes, I agree with everything you said. I think someone should be writing the script as we speak! LOL

The Johnny Depp fans, which I'm one since his days on 21 Jumpstreet, will be hesitant to accept Timmy as Edward, so I think it's more apt to focus our manifestation energies onto the developments of something for Edgar. We shall see. I like your Buster Keaton comparison. Sharp eye!

Well said Alex, I love that Timothée only had two words to say and yet was able to create a wonderful character through his physical expression, something that he does so well and this is something that I think the casual viewer of a Timothée film doesn’t notice, because he is so phenomenally good at it. I love Edgar 🖤 You have probably worked that out already 😂

I appreciate that the consensus so far is new film over remake as I am in total agreement. One of the big problems with remakes is they're always compared to the originals and this commercial demonstrates that Timothee has talent way beyond merely imitating Johnny in a remake. After seeing this commercial People haven't been saying "he's just like Johnny", they're saying "he was perfect for this role"--this role as in a new one, one created just for him, so they should take that and create a film around it. I posted an article earlier in the thread where the director said Timmy has the grace of a silent movie comedian so Alex's Buster Keaton comparison is right on the money!
While we wait for a movie decision, do you think we could petition for an action figure? I would love to have him sitting on my desk while I work...#TeamEdgar

Now I really want an Edgar action figure!! It would have to be the same scale as the Dune one so they can keep each other company!

Thank you, Simone. Hello, everyone. I'm starting to read your threads, and I find them very interesting. As for the comparison between Timothée and Buster Keaton... In addition to the use of the body, which does not belong to all actors in such a natural and apparently instinctive manner, while we know there's a lot of work, study, preparation for acting like that-there's the eyes. I'm in love with Timothée's eyes. All his soul in his eyes. And when he looks at you -- even through a screen -- it's impossible to look away. Eyes that talks . Eyes that say many things. There's an ancient knowledge in him. It’s like he’s been through stories from another time. All of this, associated with a puppy’s exuberance, an energy that warms the heart. Irresistible. He can speak with his eyes. And what he says totally captures you. It moves you.
