Great director and great person.
"But when you say something like, “Oh, your movie’s super-successful”, I am less Catholic than Protestant, because retaining a sense of modesty is always important. And yes, Call Me by Your Name was a fantastic success, a great box-office success. We’ve been nominated or won so many awards and the reason I’m happy with the film is because sometimes I have someone approaching me and telling me that the movie changed their perspective on love, or their relationship. So I think that the real measure of accomplishment lies in the way in which someone can be affected by your work. But to talk about the actual success of it like something that can be counted into a box? I mean… cool. But I think if you do a personal movie and then you get this kind of reaction from an audience, then that’s great."
I learnt a lot from this movie and its makers. They are true artists.

“I was just on the phone with Armie thirty minutes ago,” Chalamet says. Hammer had just written a tribute to Chalamet for Variety, which Chalamet says had moved him to tears. “He always has a trick up his sleeve,” Chalamet says. “I was getting emotional. It was really one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen, especially coming from him.” time.com/5414291/timothee-chalamet-call-me-by-your-name-sequel/

I'm still not gung ho on a sequel, but if there is to be one, just call it Elio & Oliver.

I don't know how credible this is, or how serious André was when he supposedly said this. But it is very interesting.

I wish it would be true! The novel's ending is a real end, but the story can continue... not as a memory, rather in a present time.

It looks the sequel will be set in a sad tone. Did Luca say Oliver would have a bunch of kids? Personally I don't like this idea very much. It would make it harder for Oliver and Elio to be together. Anyway I trust A. Aciman.

I agree tealover. I'm thinking that after Luca made that comment about Oliver and his wife being a baby factory, maybe that inspired André to state that he'll work on a book sequel to help direct where he envisioned his Oliver's life leading to. I will truly ONLY be interested in CMBYN sequel(s) if it leads to Elio and Oliver living happily ever after. Otherwise, just leave it at this one movie and let my imagination/fantasy of their lives being together be my ending. I don't want this saga to be ruined by forced het relationships and subsequent brood. They are gay lovers who should be permitted to live a full life with each other.

Didn't Luca say he wasn't interested in a sequel but a series of movies. So it wouldn't just be one more movie, but maybe like a trilogy?? I am only interested if they eventually get together. If they did say 2 more movies, the next would be like what happened in the book. But the end of the book was very open-ended and it was hopeful to me. I could see Oliver and his wife mutually agreeing to divorce and Oliver than going to Crema to see if there was even a shot with Elio anymore. Maybe that would be the 3rd movie, which would be years later, in order for them both to age.

I think you're right. The sequel makes sense, if Elio and Oliver are together in the end in spite of time and events happened in their life.

I like the idea how Luca thinks about 'CMBYNs' as a chronicle. It can work in that way. Provided Elio and Oliver will be together (and not in decades after several films).

CMBYN has inspired some Halloween costumes. Very cute ideas!

I'm not sure what Timothée is saying as he's talking to Elizabeth Debicki about Armie. The, um, "Charmie" people have their own translation or lip readers, so, I'll leave it at that. LOL! Thoughts?

James Ivory is still in grouchy old man mood and he's not on board for a sequel to CMBYN. He says Andrée isn't either.

Ivory is a grump. I have heard a few interviews and he can be so negative. He was critical of some things Luca did in CMBYN and mentioned them in interviews. I just wish he would keep the negativity to himself.
