Did they give an specfic details about the film and how they think it will be recieved or about timothee's accent in it? No, nothing specific. I am sure he isn't allowed to say anything. He just gave some general overviews. However, I remember when The King first started filming and there was a guy on Twitter who posted it was his last day filming and he had a great time. I think he was an extra. So some people were asking him questions and he mentioned Timothee was a great guy and it is hard for an American to play British royalty but he did great. Someone asked about his accent and this guy (British himself) said Timothee's accent was spot-on. So it sounds promising!

Now that it's April, we should get confirmation very soon of when The King will premiere. It's not going to be at Cannes due to the Netflix saga, but the other festivals are more Netflix friendly, and it could premiere at Venice or Toronto, maybe Telluride. Be on the look out though, we should know the release date very soon.

How does the Telluride Film Festival work? I saw on their website passes have sold out. But can you buy individual movie tickets when they go on sale? Thanks!

How does the Telluride Film Festival work? I saw on their website passes have sold out. But can you buy individual movie tickets when they go on sale? Thanks! Telluride is a different film festival animal. It's kinda exclusive and only the most die hard cinephiles and industry insiders attend, hence the tickets are already sold out. You have to get on a waiting list. Also, the thing about Telluride is that they don't announce their festival slate until like 2-3 days before the festival begins. I've never attended Telluride and I doubt I ever will, too remote and too close to my preferred TIFF. But if The King were to have a screening there, that's a good sign that Netflix and Plan B want the film on the Oscar radar. www.telluridefilmfestival.org/

Oh wow thanks for the information on the Telluride. I have never visited Colorado yet but one day soon. I do want to attend the Toronto Film Festival one day depending on time and money. I think Toronto is a lovely city. If the King premieres there this year maybe I'll give it a shot!

Fellow CC member and friend tracyrcat will be attending TIFF this year with hopes that The King, and/or Little Women will screen there. You'll be smart to read my Timmy TIFF Tips thread to understand how to navigate and plan attending that festival.

I am so hoping it premieres at TIFF. It would seem the type of movie to fit in there but who knows. Plus Timmy seems to be super popular at TIFF, so I would imagine they do want big'ish names to show up. I just hope Dune is finished filming by then.
Do you really see it at Venice? I always imagined it is so difficult to get into Cannes or Venice, like they are more prestigious and want higher-end types of movies. The King doesn't seem like it would be their thing, but than again, I don't know much about either of these festivals.
And yep, I plan on going to TIFF this year. Never been before or to Toronto, so looking forward to it and imagine it will be crazy! If one of Timmy's films were there (and he attends, of course), it would be icing on the cake.

I agree that in Venice there will be no premiere of the king,Telluride is also unlikely. Toronto seems likely, but I believe the premiere could be in the summer and only on Netflix.last year Netflix made a big mistake in the movie king outlaw, pulled with him all year, expected awards and film festivals but the film has not received any awards and participated only in Toronto and London, thinking they will take into account these mistakes. shooting dune should not end before September 18,count six months,he may not have time even in Toronto, if there is a king will be presented.

I do feel if it is at a festival, more likely TIFF than anything else. I know I heard 6 months for filming Dune, so mid-September, but I wonder if it could finish a bit earlier (or even a bit later). Will just have to wait until later on in the summer to see if there is some update.
I would imagine if they feel there is any chance for awards, it would premiere in the fall and they would have to do some theatre release first, before it going on Netflix. Netflix definitely makes this movie a bit more trickier to try and predict. And not even sure it will be an awards caliber of movie. So much unknown at this point.

Has anyone seen any release dates for The King? Someone on FB said he was looking forward to seeing this movie but because they have changed the release date "so many times," he is skeptical now about the movie. I told him there hasn't been any release dates (I think I may have seen Fall 2019) and what were the previous dates and he said - March, June, July and now definitely November. I asked if these were released publicly as I haven't heard this and he said he couldn't remember but it wasn't from fans.
I don't know, this doesn't seem accurate to me. Has anyone else heard of these previous release dates?? I don't really see this as an Awards type of movie but if Netflix thought there was any possible chance, Fall 2019 would make sense (not March, June, July).

I haven't seen any official updates regarding a release date, and any changes in release date that person is referring to, should have no reflection on the quality of the film. I hope we hear something soon.

I LOVE historical dramas so I too want to see this film. King Henry V was a fascinating character so I look forward to seeing how this movie depicts him with Timothee. I presume this story is also different from Shakespeares play. I just wish there was a trailer or some photos to get people excited. I should have majored in marketing...

It's just pure fan greed on my part in wanting to at least see some 'Coming soon' images from The King, an official synopsis, or a 30 second mini-trailer. Something.

Have you noticed that the IMDB Website has all the pictures missing from the film king? Is that weird, at least?Unfortunately,if the person with FB is really an insider (constantly shifting the premiere of the film, talking about the uncertainty of the producers and Director in the high quality of the film). I only know the date of June 22,which was soon removed. If we again compare this film with the film the king is outside the law,November and December seems very realistic.
