All of here at CC will at some point, and to a certain degree will be directly affected by the spreading of this new virus, one that has been in the news for two months now. As it is spreading throughout Europe and the Middle East, and now in North America, a lot of public activities are going to be canceled. A big one was canceled this afternoon, SXSW!
Here's information about how to prevent catching the coronavirus:
COVID-19, also known as the Coronavirus, is a member of the same family of viruses that causes colds. Person-to-person transmission has been confirmed.
To avoid transmitting or contracting COVID-19, practice good hygiene. Such as: ##Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. ##Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands. ##Avoid close contact with people who are sick. ##Stay home if you are sick. ##Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue away and wash your hands. ##Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces you touch.
Lombardy is the region they filmed Call Me By Your Name. I planned to visit Crema/Milan in April of this year, but I canceled my reservations last fall and postponed by visit to possibly 2021, or 2022.
They had a reporter on TV today who said he was sent to Italy 10 days ago and there were about 300 cases. Today, over 7,000 cases and over 300 deaths. It really exploded in Italy, so I understand they have to take extreme measures. Unfortunate for those who had vacations planned. And of course for those who live there, what a nightmare.

The latest communications from Coachella is that the show is still on. However, it's up to Riverside County to cancel if it's a public health issue. I want to go to Coachella, but if it's canceled, I'll get my $500 which will help cover my London trip.
As of right now, only China, South Korea and Italy are CDC Level 3 counties of International travel. Until such time that the UK becomes a Level 3, which I hope not, I'm moving forward with my plans in 7 weeks.
The entire country of ITALY is on lockdown to contact COVID-19. As of yesterday, loads of people still left Lombardy ignoring the quarantine. Now everyone who is there, must stay there until the lockdown is lifted.
Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. All your tips and articles are appreciated. I am praying for a springtime miracle such as massive slow down of the spread due to warm weather.
You're very welcome. This info is for all of us, especially those of us traveling to the UK soon. I know we're all inundated with info on this new virus situation, but filtering out all the noise and reading select articles and information helps us all to better understand the situation, and plan accordingly.
I really dislike China right now, and I know it's not PC to say it, but I said it and I know I speak for others. This is a catastrophe. Now, Coachella is likely to be canceled because it's held in the center of a desert resort area where 80% of residents are over 55, and this virus kills most of them. I prefer Coachella to be canceled so I can get my money back and use it towards London. The October dates they are trying to move to don't work for me. This was going to be my last time going to Coachella. The overreactions of this have devastating financial impacts on millions upon millions of people and industries.
