The commercial that Timmy filmed in NYC with Martin Scorsese a few weeks back was suspected to be a commercial for Bleu de Chanel, with Timmy as the new face of this men's fragrance. Timothée Chalamet rarely gets grilled about his beauty routine. Still, there’s really no escaping the question of his exquisitely disheveled hair. When we meet on a drizzly spring morning in New York, he’s ensconced in a squishy black leather armchair and dressed in all black—Nike tee, workwear pants, Craig Green sneakers—and his gently mussed, side-parted curls are undeniably the main event. “You’re actually the first person to ask me about my hair. What’s the secret?” he repeats, bemused by my opener. “There really isn’t one. When I wake up, it’s a roll of the dice,” says Chalamet, preempting my next question: “And I get my hair from my dad.”

If Chalamet has his French father to thank for his laissez-faire curls, then he owes his nose for fragrance to his American grandmother. “I remember her giving my sister Chanel No. 5—I think it was for my sister’s birthday—and she had this little Chanel purse too,” he says of his late grandmother, who lived in the same Hell’s Kitchen apartment building Chalamet grew up in. “She was a very, very elegant lady in the best sense of the word—subtly elegant and not for show.”

She would have no doubt appreciated the scent he’s wearing today: Bleu de Chanel. “I like that it feels a little pulled back, it’s subtle but still assertive,” he says, raising his wrist to his face to take in the aromatic notes of sandalwood. “I’m not someone who wears scent all the time. For me, it’s about emphasizing a moment.”

Timothée Chalamet is officially a Chanel girlie. Today, the fashion house announced him as the new face of its men’s fragrance, Bleu de Chanel. It is the first time Chalamet has been an ambassador of any fashion or beauty label, and marks a new era for the scent – one that flirts with a more edgy and audacious style that is open to all possibilities.

Shot by Mario Sorrenti, the official campaign will drop in June so Timmy stans don’t have long to wait until they can feast on new content. Until then, Dazed Beauty has some exclusive images of the young star brooding and evocative to tide you over. A short film directed by Martin Scorsese – the paparazzi images of which you’ve been seeing all over the internet – is also coming in the autumn. Scorsese is a long-time friend of the Bleu de Chanel fragrance, having directed Gaspard Ulliel’s debut campaign in 2010. Chanel’s first-ever male ambassador, Ulliel was the face of Bleu de Chanel for 12 years until the French actor’s sad passing last year.

I'm so happy for Timothee and of course he is sexy as hell. But I don't use cologne. I'm just not a fashion or fragnance connoisseur. What happens when allergies ruin your sense of smell haha.

I totally understand! Not everyone can wear fragrance and that's understandable. But, you can enjoy the ads though without sneezing and watery eyes. LOL!

I'm personally pleasantly surprised. For me, it's delicate enough for me, as a woman, to wear it. I'll buy the smallest bottle soon. I got a sample of it from Milan.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. Usually I don't like woman fragrances. One more reason to give it a try.
