It's so cool to finally see the promotional materials start to roll out after waiting a long time. Great action image!

Getting excited about it with some of the new promo stuff lately. I just hope they're still planning on releasing it in Dec. I'd hate to have to wait even longer to see it.

I thought during this Spring that Dune would not hold its December release date but now I think it may. The reason is other countries are currently setting reopening dates for theatres in the summer. I'm sure the same thing will happen to most of America. Unless there is a resurgence of the disease and theatres get closed down again, I think by middle of July and August people will be able to return to seeing movies both domestically and international.
The billion dollar question literally is whether moviegoers will return to theatres when the disease is still out there in the world. For the record, I definitely will go out with appropriate safety measures. I am going stir crazy now. I used to see two sometimes three films a month in the theatre before the pandemic. And hopefully by December 2020 things have improved enough that people will attend movie theatres en masse again. I do worry very much about Dunes box office. I mean before the pandemic Dune needed every fan to turn out not once but multiple times so that we can get the second half of the movie due to good box office receipts. I'm so scared now with the pandemic movie theatre capacity will be reduced by about half under regulations and casual moviegoers wont give Dune a shot with the virus.
But the good news about a December 2020 release date is that we will have evidence from other large tentpole releases about whether they make nearly the box office the studios thought. And if Warner Brothers thinks by the fall they need to move the movie into 2021 in order to generate the revenue I am sure they will. In the meantime let's see how many views the teaser or trailer gets on the Internet when it premieres I am guessing this month!

The release of Tenet by Christopher Nolan on July 17th will be the real test. Only diehards will go to the theater in July, and I'll be one of them. With reduced seating and social distancing, it will be fine. The less films in theaters, the more screens they will have, and the less competition. Tenet will do fine, and so will Dune in December.

I'm with you about going to the theatres. I choose to be optimistic!

Me too! I'll go to the theatres whenever they'll be able to open watching any movie available.

Is this pic from Dune? That's what I've heard.

Where did you get it from? I haven't seen it yet.
Just went to Twitter and it's a scan from the article in Empire magazine.

I am thinking the photo is from Caladan before the Atreides family leaves for Arrakis or is set from Paul's new home on Arrakis. And the scene involves fight training or maybe something with the Bene Gesserit such as the Reverend Mother.

I think that image is from Caladan as well.
It's really helpful that some of us have read the book so that when we see images from the film, we can guess which scene it's from.
BTW, I thought up this poll question. So, what do you think?

Love the poll question. A fun brain teaser. This movie will have a ton of world building in the beginning so it wouldn't surprise me if there are invented languages and customs and accents in it like Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, and Star Wars. But as to Timothee, I vote he will be using a normal accent so that his character relates most to the audience who is exploring this universe set thousands of years in the future. I dont see him using a different voice or accent.

No accent. Dune is not about languages. If so I'm okay with it.
I love the two pics above from Empire. Surely from the movie, they have the dynamics that make me imagine the whole movie. I can't wait for the trailer!

I just removed the (?) question marks from the title of this thread. Surely by now, Dune is still on track to be released on December 18th.
