I was right bout the trailer timing!!! I hope there is a Zoom or virtual panel we can participate through SDCC with the cast since there is no in person event this year. Nice promotion opportunity.
Simone, I like your thinking about a New Years Day release. I think December 18th may be too crowded, but if Dune had the New Years holiday to itself I think it might get more attention the week right after Christmas and then into January.

Dune has some more filming to do in Budapest in August! This is standard, and the film is still on target to be released on December 18th.

Wow, amazing! Thanks for the news! Shooting some extra scenes is normal in these big products. Luckily there've been relatively few infected people in Hungary. Though it's very brave to shoot extra scenes in these circumstances.

Good fortunes that they shot in Hungary originally and the pandemic has not hurt the country as much as others so that filming can resume soon. I am always supportive of reshoots if they can make the movie better. And as you said it is a normal part of the process. Keep an eye out for Timothee ... this time with a mask!

This is ADDITIONAL shooting, not reshoots, two totally different filming agendas.

I hope with the additional filming they'll have time to re-edit. I mean, I'm sure they know what they're doing. lol But it just seems like it's cutting it close if they're doing it in Aug and it's being released in Dec. Although I have no idea how long the re-editing process takes.

I think it won't be a full re-editing, just some parts of the movie involved.

Warner Brothers is not fucking around. They will most likely move Tenet to August. They are desperate. Like all other studios, they have lost a lot of money this year because of Covid-19. They want their movies to do well in the tightening theatrical window due to the virus, and the latest spikes. The marketing for Dune and the promotion of Timothée as a leading man is happening RIGHT NOW!!! They want that money and those Oscar nominations!!
Pay attention!

Well, it happened. Tenet moved to August 12 this evening. I cant wait to go to the movie theatre again and see it. But I have talked to friends and family and coworkers who are the average casual filmgoers and they have no interest in returning to theatres anytime soon. I only cited that example because maybe this game of musical chairs with the dates does not matter unless the public is convinced the virus is on the wane. I really hope I am wrong and there is pentup demand to return since the virus will likely still be a major issue in August. A lot of good films are scheduled for last quarter of 2020. Is it inevitable that they mostly move to 2021? I am sorry to be such a pessimist this week. I would hate to see Dune move again, but it remains a possibility.

I don't think you are being pessimistic, more like realistic in the environment we are in right now. I think it is a good move. I know there are some diehard movie fans here but most of who I talk to ain't going in a movie theatre anytime soon, including me. It is just too risky at this point. If the #'s keep going up, I bet they delay it even more. And we are still in the first wave - what if there is a second wave. I think some theatre's in LA said they would open in mid-July(?). I honestly don't see that happening with the increases the past week and I imagine it will continue for a while. Who knows what will be happening in a month. Scary. I just hope it gets under control in California and the rest of the US soon but I don't see that happening in the near future.

As much as I want to get back into the theater these days, I will go to only see select films, not to go like I have in the past, just go because I could. I do want to see Tenet and a few other select movies that have been rescheduled during the pandemic. So, another 6 weeks to see it, I just hope the infection rate slows down from these fucking non-mask wearing selfish idiots.

Between Trump and these people, they are making me very angry and frustrated.

Thanks for sharing here! I just clicked on Twitter right before bedtime, and shared the article. I read in the act (law) last week that the gov can grant non-EU residents to enter to Hungary. I suspected that shooting of Dune will go on in mid Aug even though the travel ban.
