With the announcement that “No Time to Die” is being moved to Oct 8, a mere seven days after Dune’s current scheduled release date, do you think WB should move it? Do you think they will move it? I think WB will see their money earning potential being threatened so they may push it later, maybe to Christmas (but not 2022, please not 2022!).

My prediction is we will hear soon that Dune has become a theatrical release only, which would make me happy, and that it will release Thanksgiving or Christmas 2021. Of course I have been wrong on all movie releases since the beginning of the pandemic and have given up on predicting this so uncertain future. I mean we are almost at the end of January already and have such a long way to go with vaccinations. 2022 wouldnt shock me either as 2021 increasingly looks like another lost year for theatrical films except maybe the 4th quarter. Whenever Dune is released I will be in the theatre on day one to support it even if I have to wear a hazmat suit!

Think at this moment, WB is soothing things between Legendary, Villeneuve and everyone associated with Dune. I think they will keep the Oct 1st release date and be theater exclusive only. But I won't blame them if they moved Dune, once more, into November, as that was its original release date in the first place. If WB want Timmy as their Wonka, they need to do him right by keeping Dune in the theaters so they can foment a long relationship with the hottest young male actor right now.

A Quiet Place 2 (originally scheduled for March 20, 2020, then September 4, 2020, then April 23, 2021) has now been moved to Sept 17, 2021–two weeks before Dune! I think WB will definitely push Dune to at least November; Sept 17 through Oct 8 is looking a little crowded right now

In regards to the Warner Bros/HBOMax saga, Wonder Woman Gal Gadot shared excellent news about the performance of Wonder Woman in this pandemic hybrid release. This is excellent as I was one of the fortunate ones to be able to watch WW84 in the theater, and watched it several times in the comfort of my home. This information bodes well for all films planned for this hybrid release plan, especially for Dune. But I still plan to watch it in the theater.

If Dune is going to air on HBO/Max I still don't understand why we have to wait all the way until Oct to see it. They could show it on HBO/Max so we can watch it now and then still release it in theaters when they eventually re-open. I have a feeling even though they would've seen it at home Timmy fans would still go to the theater to see it again on the big screen when theaters re-open. I know I would. Don't know if I'm making sense lol but......

Wonder Woman 1984 lost a lot of money by not having a global theatrical release that was traditional. The film probably would have made a billion plus in a normal year with ticket sales. You just can't make that figure up through HBOMax subscriptions.
Another factor is someone like me whose had HBO for years as part of my cable package. Because I pay for HBO monthly I did not pay a single cent extra for HBOMax and essentially saw WonderWoman 1984 for free with two friends. Right there is 45 bucks that didnt go to the box office to support the movie since we watched together.
The HBOMax model only works if you get additional subscriptions to rival traditional box office. I just dont think it is mathematically possible and eventually you have diminishing returns as more customers who are already signed up for the service wont then have to resubscribe again when the next movie comes out.
Because we all love Dune and Timothee here and want to see some sequels damnnit sequels, I really think the movie should first get a theatrical release for maybe three to four weeks and only then release it on a streaming service. WonderWomen 1984 having the most viewings sounds really great but it doesnt add money for the movie. I could watch the film 100 times on streaming and not be in any financial debt for it.
I could of course be wrong but I don't think this business model makes sense or is sustainable. I think Disney and MGM are making better decisions regarding Black Widow and James Bond respectively when there is hopefully good news in the months ahead. I'll eat my words when I see the other studios release their blockbusters on their streaming services. I bet though that will not be happening and Dune will be a theatrical only release to make the director happy.

collider.com/dune-movie-update-eric-roth-interview/Cool interview with the screenwriter for Dune! I swear to you all we better be getting the sequel to Dune FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!! I know why the studio cannot greenlit the film yet, but it is so frustrating as a fan knowing there is a possibility that we wont see the second half of the book on film with this amazing cast and talent behind the scenes. I predict the Dune box office will do very well and a sequel will be greenlit within days BUT we just got to help make it happen!

What do you think about getting a ticket to Dune in Venice FF? Could it be possible?

What do you think about getting a ticket to Dune in Venice FF? Could it be possible? I don't know how ticketing works for Venice Film Festival. I think the first screening is more VIPs and industry people, and some select guests. I believe they have additional screenings where the public can attend. If you plan on attending Teenca, please visit www.labiennale.org/en/cinema/2021 for more information.

It's official, Dune will have its World Premiere at Venice on Friday, 3 September. This will be out of competition, which is very good and it doesn't need to be in competition to reap the benefits of this exclusive World Premiere. The premiere will take place at the Sala Grande venue which was the same venue that The King premiered at in 2019 and it's glorious red carpet. the premiere date gives Timmy time to get back to New York for his Met Gala obligations, and any additional Dune premieres, and then settle down to work on Wonka in England for the remainder of the year.

Thanks for the news! I wish I could go to Venice and see the movie, but I don't think it's possible.
