As anticipated, Beautiful Boy will screen at some fall film festivals this year and according to Variety, the film is expected to make its world premiere at Venice in late August (7/28/18: It'll have its World Premiere at Toronto!). Perfect timing for Timothée to promote the film as filming for The King ends in August.
Yet to be announced are the film schedules for Telluride, LA Film Festival, and New York Film Festival (TBD) . Beautiful Boy may appear at all, or just a few of these festivals.
Update: Beautiful Boy will screen at the San Sebastian Film Festival, 21-29 September, and it will be featured in its Official Selection category - www.sansebastianfestival.com/2018/sections_and_films/official_selection/8/in

Good idea to have a thread dedicated to the Festivals, especially if the movie will make the rounds of several as it's expected. Here hoping it will be well received. As for Venice, it seems like it might be there but out of competition.

Timothée tweeted this while I was asleep! It's a sign, it's a sign! TIFF is a great film festival for Beautiful Boy. We should get confirmation this week when TIFF announces the first 50-60 film titles.

It looks like BB will not go to Venice. Does it indicate anything? I'm not familiar with the film festival stuff..

Venice will announce its full lineup on Wednesday, and TIFF will announce the first round of Special Presentations and Galas on Tuesday. Since it looks strong that Beautiful Boy will screen at TIFF, it will be important to make note if TIFF slates it as a 'North American' premiere. Because if Venice screens BB, it'll be the World Premiere there, regardless if its in competition or not. Source: Variety

As a precaution and since I used to live so close to Toronto which afforded me the opportunity to attend TIFF 13 consecutive years, I went ahead a booked a hotel for the one evening I hope Beautiful Boy will screen. It's completely doable for me to fly in and out of Toronto for the weekend, but I can only stay one night.
So, let's see how this all plays out. It could all be for naught if it doesn't screen on the right evening for me.

I wish I could go but it's on the other side of the ocean for me lol
So BB will do only TIFF. I was hoping for one between Venice and Telluride too. Could it go to NYFF?

Single tickets go on sale Sept 3rd. Due to the popularity of a film, only a few may be available for purchase on that day. Otherwise, people will have to stand in the Rush line and hope tickets are released minutes before the screening. I've done Rush only a few times and I got in. However, there are some times when there are no Rush tickets as everyone who got tickets, attended the screening.

Tuesday August 21 is when TIFF will release the film schedule. That's when we'll know the exact date, time and venue where Beautiful Boy will screen. If you are planning on going and you miss out on the gala, you can get tickets for the second screening which occurs the following morning around 11am. Oftentimes, the talent shows up for the introduction or the Q&A afterwards. So no need to be laser beam focused on the Gala as this is my plan B.
So until then, don't book your flight unless you plan to stay at least from Friday to Tuesday morning.
ETA: Ooops, I'm speaking too soon. Because I'm flying out of Los Angeles, the flights to Toronto are selling out right now, so I need to get my ticket and cross the fuck out of my fingers. LOL! Good luck to you. Never mind me.

I hope the movie is released widely enough so that it makes its way to people who really need it. I'm not happy with what Sony did with CMBYN last year. Hope Amazon do amazing job this year.

CaFor CMBYN at TIFF there were a press conference and a talk with The Guardian. Can we hope for something similar for BB? Do these things happen for all the movies? Or can we just expect the usual brief introduction on stage after the movie?

Beautiful Boy will have a lot of press coverage at TIFF. There will be plenty of print and online interviews with Timmy and cast from TIFF.
