TC mentioned in the HS interview that he would be in an art house movie before Dune. Anyone know what it is? Could it be the Wes Anderson musical set in post WWII? Or could it be a Paul Thomas Anderson movie that's been kept under wraps? Please share if you've got info. Thanks!

Thanks for starting this thread! Geez, I just don't know, both are such fantastic directors, but I'm leaning more towards PTA because Timmy has literally, in public, begged PTA for a job. LOL! And PTA agreed that they should talk. So I have my fingers crossed for that project - but I have no idea what it would be. Timmy and Paul Thomas Anderson at the Oscars luncheon earlier this year.

But I've heard it is filming November/December but than others say it is starting to film Feb 2019. And the cast hasn't been announced so it seems more likely they wont start until Feb. I believe Timmy will be filming Dune starting in March 2019, at least as far as we know. The other mention is PTA. So the consensus is it is one of those two, but who knows at this point. Can't wait to find out!

Before Dune? There's so little time till then. Shooting Little Women, promoting BB, awards season, and this new project, wow, Timmy is very busy these days.

I was shocked when I read the interview and he said he was doing something between LW and Dune. I didn't think there would be enough time. So I imagine it is a small part?

Little Women is a small but important part, his next secret film could be the same but working with a director that he's just dying to work with. Can't wait to find out. He needs to let us know ASAP!

I'm starting to think that this art house director project is not what many people were thinking or hoping would be. The Wes Anderson production to be filmed in France soon, has a slew of A listers announced to be in it, but not Timmy yet. If he's not announced as to be starring in this film, then I think we have been barking up the wrong tree; it could be a totally different project with a different director. Timmy is in the midst of an Oscar campaign, one in which he could win, and to not capitalize on his popularity by not announcing his casting much sooner by now doesn't bode well. I hope I'm wrong, but perhaps something has changed and his schedule no longer permits filming a movie during these next few important months of Oscar campaigning.

Looks like Timothee will be in the new Wes Anderson movie, called "The French Dispatch," filming in France!! Timothee, Frances, Tilda, Benicio! As the animated “Isle of Dogs” heads toward an Oscar nomination, Wes Anderson’s next live-action movie started shooting a week ago under wraps in Southwestern France (Angoulême), where local French papers have reported various sightings. (While Anderson lives in Paris, this marks his first film set in the City of Lights.) Contrary to prior reports, the movie, his tenth, is not a musical. According to one source close to the production, “The French Dispatch” is a love letter to journalists set at an outpost of an American newspaper in 20th-century Paris and centers on three storylines. As usual the movie features a mighty ensemble including regulars Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, and Tilda Swinton (who currently stars in “Suspiria”) plus newcomers Benicio del Toro and Oscar contender Timothée Chalamet (“Beautiful Boy”).While these cast members are real, Brad Pitt, Natalie Portman, and Léa Seydoux remain in the rumored category — although Portman did star in his short “Hotel Chevalier,” Seydoux appeared in “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” and Pitt channeled M. Hulot in the SoftBank commercial below. So you never know. Written by Anderson (and his posse), the film is independently financed by Anderson’s usual billionaire backer Steve Rales (Indian Paintbrush). We will likely see it unspool at Cannes and wind up with usual distributor Fox Searchlight. When asked to confirm his casting at an Amazon Studios party celebrating “Beautiful Boy,” Chalamet threw his hands in the air and giggled.www.indiewire.com/2018/12/wes-anderson-the-french-dispatch-france-casting-1202024587/

Wow this is exciting! I'm a huge fan of Wes Anderson's films. I think there's only one film of his that I didn't care for, but I've loved or liked everything else he's made. What a star-studded ensemble! It is exciting and since there are 3 separate stories, I wonder who the other actors will be in Timothee's story? The movies he is making are so diverse: CMBYN, BB, The King, Little Women, The French Dispatch, Dune. And look at the actors and directors he is working with. I just love his choices in projects. And I can't wait to hear him speak French in a movie - I am sure he will be speaking English and French. I wonder if it will finish in time to be out in 2019 or it will push to 2020? Another article said it was filming over 4 months and it started in November. So it would most likely be finished in March/April. I don't know if that is enough time to be released in 2019. I have no idea how long post-production typically is on Anderson's films. I really don't have a lot of familiarity with him but I am excited!

I think Timmy is doing a great job of choosing work with great directors even if the role is small and part of an ensemble. He's a team player and directors love that, so it'll bode well for him in future projects as he ages up to more lead roles.
If this production is scheduled to finish filming in spring of 2019, then I don't expect it to premiere until 2020. Wes Anderson has a very distinct and detailed style, so I doubt this could be rushed. I'm sure it'll end up at several major film festivals in 2020. I love listening to Tim speak French, too.
I heard someone else mention that he has long post-production times on his films, as he is very distinct/meticulous on his projects. So I'd rather have them wait and get it right then rush through it. Someone else mentioned they could see it debut at Cannes, so that would definitely be May 2020 then.

I'm glad this announcement has finally been made, it has been dragged out for a whole month with us guessing. Guess there was final contracting stuff to deal with and which role Timmy would take on as to make himself free to do Oscar promotion and merge easily into Dune production. Great job on Team Chalamet lining up another intriguing film role for Timmy.

Someone found this on Reddit - sounds interesting!
As the internet already knows it is going to be a time piece set in Angoulême, France. 1960s according to the internet but 1950s according to my source. Articles also state that it will be a musical. My source mentioned nothing about it being a musical but that doesn’t mean it won’t be.
Now on to the stuff that no articles have mentioned.
So first off what gets me most exited is the way the story will be presented. It will be three smaller stories that wont be happening simultaneously but instead happen chronologically and in the end they will culminate and the three story lines will merge in a climax.
One story line will be staring benicio del toro as a painter who has been imprisoned
Another story line will follow frances mcdormand as a journalist
And the third story line will be with timothée chalamet who if i remember correctly is also a journalist
I’m not sure which order these story lines will be in

Timmy will be filming this month and once he's done with his part, shooting should wrap up shortly afterwards. This begs the question, will The French Dispatch be released later this year, or early next year? Technically it can be completed and ready for test screenings as early as April, and therefore available for release later this year. Do you think the studio will want to capitalize on Timmy being in Little Women and The King by giving it a 2019 release, or will they want to ride the coat tails of Dune and release it in 2020?
