The Rollings Stones have been together in a band LONGER than I have been alive on planet Earth. In my teens, I came to learn about them, and like most folks, I am very familiar with their musical catalogue, but I have never been to one of their concerts. But now in what I believe may be their final winding down tour, I'm going to see them, and tracyrcat will be going with me. I'm so excited. We got nosebleed seats, but that's ok because it's within our budget and I took advantage of the American Express pre-sale so I was able to get us seats directly across from the stage, dead center. So it's super awesome, and it's just a few days before my trip to Italy in May.
I'm also going to see Nine Inch Nails next Friday. This will be my 10th concert in 20 years, first time seeing them in California.
Enjoy the concert! I'm pretty sure it'll be a fantastic experience. I was lucky in the summer. I was obsessed in the late '90s to see Shine!. As it's not a big movie, I couldn't see it in cinemas around here (bad old times), and couldn't catch it in a videotheque or on TV. Finally I saw it in the middle of 2000s on DVD. And I rewatched it in spring ('piano film', of course), too. Did you see this movie? The point is that David Helfgott (of whom the film was about) came to Hungary and other countries and gave a concert (he's so old now), and he played the Rachmaninov 3, which is one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard. And I was in the concert!! I loved it!

My first Coachella experience was very good. I'm glad I got to attend this year and I saw some pretty cool bands. Although it's a 3-day festival, I just did Friday and Saturday, which under the hot desert sun and dry desert air (nose bleeds like Elio's), I was content with coming back home on Sunday, especially since there were no acts on this day that I was dying to see. Also, if I stayed for most of this day, the drive back home would have been long and super sucked. I heard that the drive to the LA from Indio can take 7 hours, when it would normally only take 2.5 hours. Hell no.
I would consider going to Coachella again, but with a friend. I saw lots of people there by themselves, so that's cool.
Now I just await news to see which date the Rolling Stones concert has been moved to due to Mick's heart surgery.
Yeah, music festivals aren't for everyone. Since I attend film festivals so often, I figured I needed to attend the most well known music festival. It's fine, but, I'm in no rush to go back, unless I have someone with me, and there's lots of artist of my preferred music - rock/alternative rock, industrial, electronic, house.
I joined the Sting fan club so that I could get access to the Fan members pre-sale for the Las Vegas shows next summer. I selected Friday, June 5th. That way I can take that day off and drive there either Thursday night, or early Friday morning to enjoy that day, and have a full day Saturday to enjoy Las Vegas, and head back early Sunday. Very excited.
Coachella was just two months ago and I noted that I enjoyed myself and was glad I went. It's one of those bucket list events that I checked off. Because of my long planned, and postponed trip to Milan/Crema is next April, that excuse was going to prevent me from attending Coachella next year. Last week, I received a survey from Coachella and I was very forthcoming and shared some suggestions. On Monday of this week, they announce that the passes for next year are going on sale this coming Friday and they shared next year's dates. I'm like, oh that's nice, but I'll be prepping for Italy,... Ciao bella!
Low and behold, today, I get an email from Coachella saying that I'm a Loyalty Coachella attendee and that I got an access code to buy the passes a full day before the other humans. This made me think I was special, so I reviewed my calendar, and I'm going to Italy April 22 - 29. So that gives me the opportunity to go to Coachella, Weekend 1. But this time, I'll just buy the regular Gen Admin pass, and not upgrade for the one-day VIP access which was another $250 (money I won't waste again).
I went to booking.com to reserve a hotel in Palm Springs are hotels are already sold out. My mainstay hotel is sold out. The fancy one I stayed at this year, which was overkill considering I only slept there (price went up $125). But I was able to find a smaller hotel another mile away for half the price. Got that one. So, if I manage to get a Weekend 1 pass tomorrow, I'll be going again next year. I would prefer Weekend 2, but it's too close to my Italy trip.
For my New York trip in September, for my birthday, I'm going to see the Tony award winning 'Best Musical' Hadestown. Due to the success of this play, its been extended through January. Previously, when I tried to research attending it, the show was scheduled to end on September 2nd.
In July, I'm going to see The Phantom of Opera here in LA during July 4th break.
