The older Timmy is in real life, the better it will be. He's extremely youthful looking, that's why he totally looked like a 17 year old in CMBYN and a mature looking Armie looked his real age, and that's why haters exaggerated the "rape" and "pedophile" bullshit. Most haters didn't even see the film, so it's my hopes if this sequel is a go, the closer that Timmy is the age of 27-29, the better it will be. He's currently 24 but looks younger.
There were moments in Little Women where he looked 16!

Matt Boomer would have been PERFECT as Oliver.

He would have been a better Oliver. I'd go that far.

Nothing against Matt but I loved Armie, so I disagree. I didn't even know who Armie was when I saw CMBYN - never had seen him in a movie before. But I thought he was great and the chemistry between Oliver/Elio (Armie/Timmy) was off the charts. You don't know what the chemistry will be like between actors but fortunately, for these two, they had it! I will say in other roles, I have found Armie could be a bit stiff, at times. But in CMBYN, I didn't see that at all and he was surprisingly tender/loving/believable in the intimate scenes (that "peach" scene was my favorite of his). So I am happy Armie was Oliver

It's not a popular opinion, I think that Armie is not a good actor. Though he was excellent as Oliver, it's his best role and the chemistry worked between he and Timmy. But Matt would have been a more proper match. I can imagine easily.

I'm in-between Tracy and Martina in opinions about Armie. I'm not a fan of his and I'm very indifferent to him. He's a handsome man, but just doesn't excite me. He was fine as Oliver and I've seen his work in Lone Ranger and other films, he's a decent actor. But Matt Boomer as Oliver would have taken CMBYN to a different and more tantalizing level.
In the end, the casting director casted whom they thought was the best actor to play Oliver. It's not even a discussion about who played Elio as Timmy was destined for this role, but Oliver could have been played by several other actors.

Neither M. Chalamet nor Armie went through the normal readings. Rather, Luca met each separately several years before shooting and decided on both. Intuition sure hit the mark that time. Having a few weeks in Italy together before shooting allowed the two to establish a hell of a chemistry. I suspect both but Tim especially is very engaging and can form a friendship pretty quickly with someone he judges genuine.I've seen hundreds of films over a lot of years, but it was this film that awakened me to just how beautiful an art form it is.

There are plenty of actors I feel are better than Armie. As mentioned, he can be a bit stiff at times. Overall I think he is a good actor, not great (Timmy on the other hand is phenomenal). The best work I have seen of Armie's is CMBYN, although I will say he was really good in Sorry to Bother You (a small role), as well. No denying he worked in CMBYN - he and Timmy just clicked and the chemistry showed on film. They both had life changing experiences doing the film and I love the bond/friendship they will forever have with each other (and with Luca). Maybe Matt would have been great but I just can't imagine CMBYN with anyone else.

Did you sees Luca's latest interview in Variety, from a few days ago? He was asked about a sequel to CMBYN. I still wonder if this will ever happen. I knew if it did happen, no way Luca would use "Find Me." So we'll see if this actually comes to fruition or not, but I am fine either way. variety.com/2020/tv/news/luca-guadagnino-we-are-who-we-are-trump-scarface-1234703145/Are you working on a sequel to “Call Me By Your Name”? I call it a second chapter, a new chapter, a part two or something like that. I love those characters. I love those actors. The legacy of the movie and its reception made me feel I should continue walking the path with everybody. I’ve come up with a story and hopefully we will be able to put it on the page soon.

I saw this article, I left the link in the Notes about… thread because of its several themes, but it's the right thread to talk about the sequel. Luca was talking about the sequel as he did before. It would be great if we got more info though I have doubts about getting info in a year.

You guys know how I feel about a sequel, and why I though André wrote Find Me the way he did. If it happens, it happens, but I doubt it.
