A very correct article about the book.

Of interesting note is that it appears that Elio identifies with being gay as in Find Me, as per the description above, he's in a relationship with an older man. I reckon his experience with Oliver gave him a preference for older men. The thing he had with Marzia was an experimental fling, and his preference is with men. I do look forward to reading Find Me, but I reckon I'll quickly skim through the Sam part so I can get to crescendo of Elio and Oliver.

Elio's sexual identity and lasting love for Oliver is crystal clear.

Operafan, I'd like to kindly ask you to calm down a bit, you're a tad too aggressive as of late. There's no need to be condescending to me. You're upset that the author of Call Me By Your Name had the audacity to write a new book on characters he created, in which you and I and many others enjoy. Please mind your tone from this point forward. Thanks.

Simone, readers of CMBYN didn't need another book. That is the sell out! He IS "cashing in" on the success of the film.
Actually it's not true. A lot of readers are waiting for the new book. And I had the privilege to read it sooner than most of them. He started writing Find me in 2016. He had an inspiration of travelling by train to Milan, and he couldn't get this trip and his fellow-traveller along with her dog out of his mind, and started a new story. Later it became the beginning of the book and Sami's story. He hadn't a complete story in his mind about Elio and Oliver, while he was writing over the years, it was swirling in his head waiting for maturing (it's his usual writing method). And then the movie gave a boost to him to continue and end the book. He would have liked to write about the father, but at the same time he had the chance to deepen the others's life.
You know what? I believe him. And one more thing. Why wouldn't he had written a book about his characters, even seeing the success of his previous book? He had an idea, an inspiration and a concept, moreover he had no intention of repeating CMBYN. It most of the fans don't like Find me, it's okay, not a big deal, but it will happen because of their preconception or maybe simply disliking.
By the way, Tolkien wrote The Lord of the Rings in the wake of the success of The Hobbit and under way the book became something else than The Hobbit. Nothing new under the Sun.
Maybe we don't agree and we can't agree, but you have a harsh style and biased opinion about the book and the fans too, without accurate arguments/points. Please take into consideration not to project your opinion to all of the fans.

Lasting love for Oliver and bisexual identity. Remember Marzia. Elio had a relationship with both of them at the same time. According to Aciman himself everybody has two or more identity, and he represent this idea in his books.

I had to see the film several times before I could even reconcile it with the novel.

Teenca, sorry if I offended you. I have strong feelings about the novel. I won't be commenting further.

I also have strong feelings about the novel, but eventually it's only a book (though I love books, I am a bookworm, and this is one of my favourites), no need to be angry or upset about it.
