I think he promoted BB so much (or other films) because he considers the subject important. Nominations are "the icing on the cake". Teenca, Timmy promoted the film for awards consideration. Although the message of the film was very important to him, he did not tirelessly promote the film solely out of the kindness of his heart. The studios drove the promotion drive in pursuit of the Oscar nominations, but sadly, it was all in vain.

He continues to be the international "voice" for BB as it opened in England late last month and in France this week. He is serious about his work; how refreshing.
On the lighter side, Chalamet did get an OSCAR this year...OSCAR ISAAC was just cast as his father, Duke Leto, in the Dune reboot! Cheers!

He went straight to the U.N. right after his NOSCARNOM to raise global awareness for opioid addiction crisis.

I know Timmy gives his all & plus to promote his films, namely Call Me and BB. And it's telling how dedicated Timmy is on the subject of BB for him to continue on with the United Nations screening the day after the startling Oscar snub - he's the quintessential professional. As timing would have it, there have been no more public screenings with Q&As for BB.

IMHO Harry Schifman, Laguardia drama teacher/mentor of Chalamet and Elgort had it right:
"I’d be happy for Timmy to get a nomination and an award, or Ansel also, for no other reason than it helps their marketability and increases their income. I, personally, don’t really care much for awards. I know they’re a great marketing tool, and I totally get the reason for them. I feel like you’re in this cooperative art form, and yet you’re in this competition at the same time. It seems a bit odd to me. And how do you compare these performances? It’s just like, well, that’s green and that’s yellow, and you can’t say that green is better than yellow."

Apparently a fan sat next to Timmy on a flight recently and had a great conversation with him (How in the fuck did the Universe align this to happen?). Although I'm waiting evidence of this discussion, it appears that she asked Timmy if he was going to attend the Oscars, and he said no. I am so totally ok with this as I think it's a healthy decision for him to just move on from this disappointing awards season that is rife with political correctness and anti-trumpesque politics. Timmy doesn't need to present at the Oscars just so that they can use him to help with ratings for a show that will be a ratings disaster. This deliberate snub hurt Timmy, but he has such a bright future ahead. He's in France filming a film, he gave a shout out to French director François Ozon - who immediately gave Timmy an agreeable shout out back, and Timmy will start filming Dune in Hungary in March. The quality of work that Timmy produces will earn him tangible competitive accolades in the future. When, I do not know, but people are making note of Timmy's absence from the 91st Oscars - again, a deliberate political strategy - and he'll be rewarded at the right time.

Just to give you all an insight into the emotional impact of being snubbed for an anticipated Oscar nomination truly is, thankfully, Bradley Cooper (one of my faves I've been rooting for) was candid with Oprah Winfrey about this Director Oscar snub. I share this so that you can have a better understanding of not only the creative, physical, and emotional investment an artist put into their work, but when they are nominated in all primary precusors, and fail to get an Oscar nom, it fucking hurts, it's brutal, and I appreciate Bradley being honest. So like I said, Timmy is a sensitive sweetheart, and his Oscar snub hurt him a lot. He'll never admit it, but, some of us stans know how he reacted.
