Update 7/12/18: This thread will also showcase updates on how Timothée's image is being used for promotional purposes on social media by the media and organizations in the entertainment industry.
Update: based on comments about social media by a favorite musician of mine, I'm editing this thread to focus on Timothée's usage and impact on social media with his fans. Refer to post #5 below written by me.
Timothée has a knack for being cryptic with his tweets. He's very specific in what he wants to share and he's not on it regularly, but at least twice a month or so, which is cool with me.
We can use this thread to post some (not all) of his tweets, just the important ones that provide good deets about his projects. This tweet in particular debuts a one sheet for Beautiful Boy.

I imagine this thread will move slowly, considering he barely tweets. Maybe he'll be more on social networks once the press tour for Beautiful Boy begins. Should we have a thread also for his Instagram?

I think his tweets and instagrams are of the same postings, so I can modify this thread to Tweets and Instagram.

Timothee is canny enough to be deliberately ambiguous in his tweets and Instas. I think he's using them obviously to stimulate interest in his projects but I think there's a subpurpose as well, which is to grow his mystique. By that I mean his unique personality and persona combining the somewhat androgynous "beautiful boy" with the authentically masculine almost 23 year old man. Many people apparently believe he's 17 like his character Elio, but it's a function of his acting talent that he came across in CMBYN as 17 while actually being 21 at the time. Now with Hot Summer Nights, Beautiful Boy, and The King now filming, his time has come and he's making the most of it - while leaving his fans wanting to know and understand more about him. And that's exactly what should be happening. That's what an alluring mystique is all about.

One of my favorite musicians, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, spoke on his thoughts about being a celebrity using social media, particularly twitter and the interactions with fans. Trent Reznor Bad Witch album interview EW June 20, 2018I completely agree with Trent and know what he speaks of. I've been a fan of his longer than Timmy has been alive, and I have followed him on social media since the beginning. So I know the changes in social media and particularly with Twitter that he speaks of. That's why I get a little testy with some of Timothée's fans when they demand that he has a more regular presence on Twitter and Instagram, as if he has no other interests in life and doesn't have personal business to take care of. Some of the comments I read from kids are that they absolutely expect Timothée to entertain them when they are bored, when they need proof that he's alive (roll eyes), or to wish them a happy birthday, etc. Some people think they are just joking, but they aren't, we live in an age where a generation of people have high expectations of celebrities to be on social media and to interact with them. It replaces the reality that a fan cannot have a phone call or email/DM/chat room conversation with the celebrity, so fans wait with bated breath for the next tweet so that they can feel alive and revel in the joy that he's posting on social media. I think that Timothée is using twitter and instagram in a very smart way. He's obviously very savvy on the benefits of social media, and he's only using it when he feels like it and has something to say or share. He doesn't feel obligated, he does it when time allows, and I greatly respect that about him. He's very smart, smarter than the average celebrity who uses social media to constantly pimp themselves. Timmy doesn't do that, and it irks a lot of his fans who are addicted to social media. Thoughts? Any of you old school when it comes to when and how to use social media?

Chalamet realizes less is more when it comes to social media. It helps to maintain his mysterious allure, being occasionally available on social media but only on his own terms and timing. I think it's important that Timothee maintain a certain aloofness and keep a little distance. Not out of arrogance or hubris, but out of a desire to tantalize his fans with nuggets of occasional participation, but nothing substantial enough to break the 4th wall.

I'm totally fine with Timmy not using social media constantly like other celebrities do. Of course it would be nice to have more content, but I can't help but think about something he said about Frank Ocean and his ability to mantain some mystery in this age. I also remember he said something along the lines of his generation being some kind of guinea pigs for this era of social media where nothing seems to be private anymore. I wonder if the fact his photos as a child were discovered and shared everywhere (which I think it's wrong) had an impact on how he uses his social media now.

And based on what happened with his social media account in the past 24 hours, it's no wonder he's not very active. People monitor what he does too closely and it's like an invasion of privacy. Who gives a fuck what account he follows/unfollow? It's embarrassing to have that discussed publicly and to be criticized by his fans/stans. The more these stans do this to him, the less interactions they'll get from him. And I won't blame Timmy one bit.

I can simplify all this, Tim is tired of asking 'by active and passive' fans that are with him that do not share the photos that are made with him on social networks, and the first thing they do is share it. But they go even further, write a message (we no longer speak of private messages) but normal messages, or the photos and videos that he uploads in 'my stories' of Instragram .. what do the fans do? screen captures and publish them on your social networking pages .. is that okay? I do not think so. So, what is missing now that he just shares content? The girls with whom he contacts either privately or publicly have their profiles in private, and with good reason.

Can we please STOP assuming who post as anonymous? It's rude and there's a reason why people are posting anonymous, and anyone can post anonymously. I may do it for variety as I have done in the past at other communities when I have something to share and didn't want it to be known as me.

If you're talking about me, please, do not think I'm rude, I do not mean it. Today, watching on Instagram, I have noticed something that has taught me to be humble. Maybe when I make comments it may seem that I am quarreling someone when it is not my intention, nor do I have the right to do so. My comment has come from what I have seen these months, I am not judging anyone, nor that right. I love this forum, I love how you speak, and I love the respect you have, unlike other forums where people seem to attack each other. Sugerir un cambio

I hope, and I trust, that with respect, we can all speak without needing to tell each other what we should or can say. As fans, we have to be united. I follow Timothée Chalamet since I saw him in Homeland, now he is not that boy anymore, he has grown in every way. I really hope to meet him someday in person, to be able to ask him questions, and to be able to give him a hug ... and smell him !. AJAJAJA
