At the test screening I went to last night, the studio spokesperson begged us to not say anything on social media about the film. We're the first audience to view it. He said any negative or positive comments about the film will be counterproductive to the editing process, especially negative commentary as the film is not a finished product. I clearly remember those fools who kept dissing BB, with them damn well knowing that the film wasn't finished being edited. They put a lot of negativity about the film out there, nine months before its premiere. Not cool at all. Some people just like to brag that they saw a film first, especially so-called fans of the star of that movie. I enjoyed the film I saw last night, and that's all I'll say about it. I definitely think some just like to brag that they saw it first, like you mentioned. But it is extremely unfair to especially give negative feedback on social media after watching a test screening. That is the point, for them to get feedback and make changes. I don't hear a lot about test screenings, so I think most people stick to the NDA's.
The three on AW were talking quite a lot about it and it was the first test screening. I had just discovered AW back then, saw the BB thread, jumped in and there were the comments. I was surprised, so say the least. It did put negative vibes out there, which can be hard to overcome. I ended up loving BB but it certainly could have deterred some from watching it. Must be beyond frustrating for studios nowadays.
Yes, studios and test screening companies rely on test screenings to edit films, and get a general sense of what people think of an almost finished product. The questionnaire asks specific questions about the plot, which scenes we liked the best, which scene was too slow, who was your favorite character, WHY, and so on. A very thorough questionnaire to help them finish the film before it's released. Films have several rounds of test screenings based on consumer feedback. So yes, those idiots who posted at AW, and on twitter ( I blocked one of the guys), did a great disservice. The companies monitor the internet for chatter about test screenings and they will figure out who did the talking and don't invite them to future screenings.

Anne Thompson, in a Screen Talk podcast, said that Little Women is "going to be shown to the studio in the summer and then they are going to put it into the fall festivals." She specifically mentioned Venice, Telluride, TIFF, etc. I have no idea if she knows what she is talking about, but thought I would post it anyways! She seemed very confident on this.

I saw a test screening of Little Women and he looks so beautiful in it. - sigh - I can't say much but I will say he's funny and absolutely adorable in it. I think Timmy fans will fall in love with him all over again once they see him in this. Thanks for the pics!

And I know that what you saw was still in post-production mode, so the final product should really be great.

Yes, I was very lucky to be able to go. Yep, I can't wait to see the final version in Dec. They did make an announcement before it began that this was basically a rough cut and some things might be different in the final version. I think they might've already edited some things out of it.

I am a very bad English major here to say that I have never read the books or saw the older films. Do men not watch or read "Little Women" as much as women? Anyways, I am going to make this film the first time I watch the story onscreen.

I've never read Little Women either. So don't feel bad. lol I've only seen bits and pieces of the 90's version where Christian Bale played Laurie. Haven't seen any other movie versions of it.
