i disagree, ultimately it will only create bad press for timothée and he will have to go through the attacks from people all over again. many fans do want to watch it for timothée, but that means that screenshots, GIFs etc will do the rounds on the internet and that will only create bad press which is more likely to cause issues than the film not being released at all. I think it's better just to forget about it and allow timothée to distance himself from it (he's also apparently said he's not proud of his perfomance in it so that's a reason in itself not to watch it). also i think it's pretty important not to defend timothée by defending woody allen, defending his choice [as a young actor struggling for work and not in the position to turn down roles at that time, especially by a director unfortunately admired by many] is fine but defending woody just makes timothée's fans look bad and timothée look bad by extension. that's just my opinion though lmk what y'all think

I don't think I've seen any fan of Timmy's defending Woody Allen and I noticed that while there are some pics from the set of the film going around, there aren't as many as there would be if the movie would not be from Woody Allen. I think most of the fandom has distanced himself from it, to respect Timmy's choice. Personally, I'd love it if the movie would never be released because I'm tired of people attacking Timmy for working on it, but unfortunately it's not up to us. Sooner or later I think the movie will be released, because probably Amazon has no choice in that.

yeah i agree, the best outcome would be for the film just to be forgotten about but if it does get released many people on twitter say they'll watch it illegally which i think for once is a good thing, so they can see timothée but not support or put money in woody allen's pocket

The film will eventually be released. It's a completed product. Timothée did not become an actor to avoid controversy, if he wanted to do that, he would just do TV commercials for dog or cat food. He'll survive whatever lame pot shots fools want to waste their time trying to shame him with. I'll watch the film because of Timmy and move on, like most fans. I have yet to see people demanding Adrien Brody to give back his Oscar for working with Polanski, and we have PROOF what Polanski did to a 12 year old girl.
People just need to stop clutching their pearls over a decision a young actor made in wanting to work with a prolific director who makes iconic films about NYC, Timmy's home turf. I understand why Timmy worked with Woody and I don't blame him, and I'm proud of his public announcement about the film, and his subsequent donations to three worthy charities.

No release date information yet, but The Playlist states that Allen is on a break from making films. This is no surprise due to the fact that talent is probably scared to work with him now due to bad press.

After I read a tweet very early this morning stating that 'Rainy Day' will not be released, I see this newest tweet:

I think at the end of the rainy day, it will be released without any fan fare. WHEN will it be released is the big question. There's an audience for this film and it'll be seen eventually.

I would also want to see this but I hope Amazon would just release it next year instead of releasing it this year as I feel it would really hurt Timmy's chance of getting an Oscar nom or any other nominations from precursor award shows.

I'm sure Amazon is aware that releasing this film now would only hamper, not help their Oscar campaign for Timothée, even though he did nothing wrong. People will use his working with this director as being a sign of poor judgement or as support for Allen because he worked with him. A job is a job for a young actor eager to work. Timmy did nothing wrong. I want to see this film eventually, but yes, it'll be released but via streaming on Amazon only.

I have updated the release year in the title of this thread because as per IMBD, looks like A Rainy Day in New York will be release sometime in 2019, most likely sometime after March. Amazon is the US distributor of this film, and I for one want to see it and I will see it. Surely Amazon will release this well after the Oscars as this is the studio behind Beautiful Boy and they want that film to be an Oscar winner. If some people don't want to see it because they have issues with Woody Allen, then don't. I would also recommend donating the cost of the movie ticket to a sexual abuse survivor charity, or one of the charities that Timothée donated his entire salary from the film to. Whatever we think and feel about Allen should not be deflected upon Timmy. He's not going to work with Allen again (unlike some folk) and he has done right in my eyes.

I hope Amazon just releases it online. That way those who want to watch it can. I do not want it released in theatres. I honestly don't see it making much money and it would just cause more harm then good for Timothee.

It'll probably only be released in select theaters in LA and NY anyway, and then available via Amazon Prime. There's probably contractual obligations to the director and producer to have it shown in theaters.

I'd like to watch this film - despite of Allen's issues, so many other people worked on it -, but it's unlikely to be released here in theaters.
