Dune will be released on December 18, 2020, and will have an IMAX release as well. This is a great date. The end of 2020 is going to be crazy with stiff competition. But there's only ONE generational sci-fi marvel that will be released! A one month delay is fine for a excellent product that wrapped up TODAY.

Good decision. One month delay is no big deal.

And Christmas day is a HUGE day to go to the movies. Dune opens a week before Xmas. I'll see it on opening day (if not sooner), and I'll definitely go see it on Xmas day. The more I think about it, I'm very happy with this date. Prime Oscar consideration release time.

According to Timmy's IG story, he has finished of filming Dune. Actually at the beginning of the year he referred to filming Dune until August. So his part has come to an end. I can't recall of mentioning Norway and UAE as the locations of filming Dune.

Dune is going to be EPIC! So excited for it and seeing Timmy in a role that is totally different than anything he has done before. And a big budget movie based on such a popular sci-fi book with Denis directing (and the locations it was filmed at). Of course there will always be the haters (they are a bit annoying already, as if they just want it to fail), but there is huge buzz for this. Can't wait until we start getting bits and pieces (stills, teaser trailers, posters, etc.), maybe early next year??

I would of course be a Timothee Chalamet fan if "Dune" never landed in his lap; but as a fantasy and science-fiction fan, I am even more of a fan of him for accepting such an iconic and challenging role.
I have no doubt that "Dune" is going to be a visually stunning film that is well acted. My concern which some respected film commentators echo is whether despite a great director, appealing cast, and classic book this new movie of "Dune" can draw in the general public. WarnerBrothers/Legendary clearly want that to happen since they are planning a companion television series and at least two "Dune" films. But money obviously does talk in Hollywood. The movie's boxoffice is all going to come down to how well the studio is prepared to market and publicize the film. There is over a year to get the masses excited, but the marketing and public relations is what I believe will be so crucial to making this film a success beyond fans of the book and of course Timothee. I don't expect Marvel-like success, but I think it is certainly a worthy goal to shoot for and aim so that "Dune" becomes a brand worth seeing and supporting for the 2020s.
I cannot wait for everything ... the photos, costumes, trailers, interviews, etc. Let's just hope it is all done well over the next year and will lead to good things Christmas 2020.

Agreed that marketing and publicity are huge for Dune. Honestly, I would have not cared about Dune if Timothee wasn't in it. So how do they pull in those who have little interest? It is funny as my brother is a big sci-fi fan and a huge reader but he never read Dune or saw the movie and when I brought up this new version, he wasn't even interested. Surprised me actually.
This is the first movie of Timothee's where box office is a BIG deal. Many of his other movies didn't make much or were modestly successful, box office wise, but this needs to make a lot of money in the US and internationally to be considered a success. I am a bit nervous about that. Plus, there are these massive, die-hard (rabid) Dune fans and I am hoping they like it because if they don't, that would really hurt WOM in that fandom. Just seeing how seriously some of them are with Dune, they have HIGH expectations.
I can't wait to see the visuals - I am sure it will be stunning and the acting phenomenal.

www.darkhorizons.com/disney-sets-four-film-dates-including-cruella/Christmas 2020 just got even better for "Dune" as "Cruella" is moved by Disney to 2021. "Dune" is looking more likely to have the opportunity for good legs at the American box office. I wonder what movies will be released at or near the same time as so called counterprogramming if any.

I went to my favorite book store during my lunch walk, and found the last Dune pin. It's popular apparently.

I did a Google search on Denis Villeneuve movies and all his films showed up in a row featuring their commericial released poster images. The image below was for Dune, and it's my first time seeing it. I wonder if it's official or fan made, looks good.
