Love the new photo. It is as if someone made a 3D model of a painting of Henry V and Timothee Chalamet stepped out. Very accurate in terms of the physical look.

I also love the new photo, probably we'll get further photos soon. debunked , great questions. Here is the details of selections:
"Out of Competition Some of the most important works of the year will be presented in the non-competing section, for a maximum of 18 films. They may include the works of established authors who have participated in Competition in previous editions of the Venice Film Festival, documentaries or films in which the spectacular dimension is accompanied by forms of expressive or narrative originality. Some films Out of Competition may be screened during the midnight slot, if their characteristics make them particularly suitable for showing at this time of night. Only feature films presented as world premieres at the Venice Film Festival will be admitted to the selection."
I think movies in the Out of competition section are important, and anything can happen later.

I'm going to try to find out more info about Out of Competition to see if it is desired by the studio, or selected by Venice. Meanwhile, here's another tweet featuring King Timmy.

I have posed the question to several high profile awards/film festival pundits and I'm getting the sense that no one knows how films are determined to be In Competition or Out, or, they don't want to publicly discuss it, which is suspicious. Two Netflix films that I can give a rat's ass about are In Competition, but the third one, the one I do care about, is Out of Competition.

I wondered about the OOC. I read somewhere for another festival that those involved with the film submit as OCC or In competition, not the festival. But this was a different festival and not sure it applies to Venice. They may all have different rules. They also said OOC aren't considered as prestigious as those in competition.
I did wonder if this was a compromise though. The studio wanted the WP at Venice and because there are multiple Netflix films, they couldn't all be in competition?? And we already see complaints this morning from some in the European community about letting ANY Netflix films in. So I don't know, maybe it was some sort of compromise?? Are there only 3 Netflix films - someone mentioned they thought there were 5 or 6 but I haven't checked.
If the studio submitted it as OCC and the festival wasn't involved, not sure why the studio would have done that unless they thought they had a better chance to be picked for OCC than in competition??
I am so hoping it will be in another festival! Love the new pic of Timmy (or should I say King Henry V).

Did some quick research in the past several years of films in Out of Competition at Venice. I'm not going to investigate any further the process of In/Out as it appears no one wants to discuss it publicly. It is what it is. Bottom line, a film has to be well liked by the Venice film board to be let into the festival.

Who knows why. There is more prestige with being In Competition than Out. But I never thought it had a chance at Venice, so I am glad it is going there. Like it was mentioned earlier, they passed on BB, so they certainly have more faith in The King.
They don't have Timmy listed as an attendee but I would imagine that list will be updated quite frequently between now and the festival. And maybe at the time of the initial list, Timmy was still filming Dune and wasn't sure if it would finish in time. But now we know Dune is officially done filming, so I expect Timmy at Venice (unless he has something else going on we don't know about). I would imagine he takes a vacation first!

Thanks for your journalist efforts, Simone. I doubt anyone can openly discuss specific tactics but you got us some general insights. Now we wait for the teaser trailer or a couple more photos...

Thank you debunked! Please read the latest post in the film festival thread as the Venice festival chief gave insight about how a film is designated In or Out.
We can all just breathe easier and appreciate the excellent fact that The King, starring our baby boy Timmy, will have a World Premiere at the oldest and fanciest film festival on the planet.

Of course he's going to be there, why would people think otherwise?

Of course he's going to be there, why would people think otherwise? There was a listing of those who would attend from the Venice Film Festival twitter acct. Timmy wasn't listed so it caused panic. But I couldn't imagine he wouldn't be there.

That's a work in progress list. Some people on this list will cancel, many others will be added. People need to chill.
