I'm really surprised at how low key the Oscar campaigning is for Little Women. I don't see Saoirse at any Q&As, there have been no FYC ads in the trades, it's as if Sony is happy with the 6 nominations, but focusing only on Adapted Screenplay.
However, based on how hard Warner Bros is pimping Joker, which got 11 nominations, including director and adapted screenplay, Joker could be LW's biggest competitor in that category. While I hope LW wins, I'll be happy for Joker, but still feel bad for LW as that is its strongest and most realistic chance to win an Oscar.

Realistically,I think they know their only real shot is for Adapted Screenplay,(I think Jojo might be it's strongest competitor), so Sony probably don't see the point in campaigning too hard .Saoirse and Florence are not going to win.The acting categories are pretty much locked this year.

Jojo is fading among voters. Many of the voters are Jewish and they have a big issue with JoJo Rabbit making a satire out of Hitler. I can see that demographic, and they are a large voting demographic, not voting for Jojo in that category. The LOVE for Joker is real, it's brilliantly real. The director, writer, cinematographer, etc, are out in LA like pimp daddies. They are going for that gold and Warner Bros has money to burn. Remember, Joker has 11 nominations, and most of the voters are men. And between Joker and LW, the men are going to gravitate towards Joker. So, I wish LW well because I truly feel they deserve it, but what they did with Joker is phenomenal too.

I saw LW last night. I have an ambivalent feeling about the movie, and I can't explain why. Maybe it's just because of the late time and I was very tired, or because of the inconvenient circumstances in the theatre (they were!), and I couldn't enjoy the movie as usual I can. I think both are the problem. Anyway, I'll watch it again, but I don't know when.

I saw LW again last night, at a special guild screening at Sony Studios. It was my 3rd time (4th if you count the test screening back in July). I still absolutely love this movie. Seeing it multiple times, the non-linear story-telling works so well. Everyone is fantastic. Greta is brilliant. There was a Q&A afterwards with Greta, Florence and Amy Pascal. No chance to interact with any of them afterwards. They were out the exit in about 2 minutes, just a handful got to meet them up-close and I didn't even try. The screening was just about sold-out but more non-guild fans showed up than guild members. I'll see it one more time before it goes out of theatres.
One interesting note: We were in the Cary Grant theatre at Sony and Greta asked the audience how the sound was in the theatre, watching the movie. We all said great. She said they actually did the sound editing in this theatre. Above the seats, there is lots of equipment and this is where Greta and her team actually did the sound mixing. She says this theatre has the best sound. It did sound amazing there.

And this is why Greta is going to win the Adapted Screenplay Oscar!

I've pre-ordered LW book. It'll be published with the movie cover in Hungary soon and it's time to read it.

Although JoJo Rabbit won the WGA award for Adapted Screenplay, I still believe that Greta will win the Oscar. I don't know what will happen at the Baftas tonight. Since they don't seem to care much about being PC, they won't be mindful about honoring the equally impressive writing abilities of women creatives and JR could win there.

I am very curious what will happen at the Baftas. If the US guilds aren't awarding LW, not sure the British will either. But it has done well at the box office there, so maybe it will surprise me. If Jojo wins Adapted screenplay there too, I feel it will be the front-runner for the Oscars now. For some reason, the guilds seem to love it. Reminds me a bit of Vice last year, although Vice didn't win anything. Hard for me to understand as I thought Jojo was ok and had very juvenile humor. The screenplay was not even close to LW's.
Oh well, frustrated but it doesn't negate all the success LW has had.

Well Jojo just won adapted screenplay at BAFTA. All hope is not lost but I am feeling very less optimistic, at this point. Guilds just love Jojo. I am starting to think the only Oscar LW will win is costume design, which I find a bit condescending. Like of course, we'll give the costume design award to the women's period piece movie, to make them happy that they at least won something. But no screenplay or even a director nom.
Anyways, I'll keep hoping we have some happy news in a week. Crossing my fingers the Academy surprises!

I just seen the news. And even though I really like JR, I crossed my fingers for LW. Meh… Maybe next Sunday!

No matter which Oscars Little Women wins or doesn't win this Sunday, it's still a beautiful film and I'm glad Greta made it.

While I love the Oscars and enjoy watching them, they do not predict all that well the staying power of certain movies in the public consciousness or culture. I think 2019's "Little Women" could become a holiday favorite and having not won any Oscars.
