While I love the Oscars and enjoy watching them, they do not predict all that well the staying power of certain movies in the public consciousness or culture. I think 2019's "Little Women" could become a holiday favorite and having not won any Oscars. You are certainly correct on that! If LW "just" won costume, that would still be an honor, but it is totally deserving of the adapted screenplay, seeing that as a child, Greta read LW religiously and it inspired her to become a writer/screenwriter. So winning the screenplay Oscar would have a double meaning; Jo's success in the late 19th century helped Greta's success as a female writer in the early 21st century. I hope to see Monday post-Oscar articles discussing this parallel.

I have no idea what will happen tomorrow - I am not optimistic but whatever. It is an outstanding movie and everyone involved should be very happy with its success. I am thrilled for Greta, Saoirse, Florence, Timothee and everyone else. No Oscars doesn't diminish it. And the fact it has made over $100 million in the US now, and $165 total worldwide, shows how beloved a movie it is by the public. www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl218596865/?ref_=bo_da_table_9

Well, Timmy is going to be presenting along with Natalie Portman, the Adapted Screenplay category. I'm even more nervous now because he's being set up for extreme disappointment in a director/writer that he loves and admires, or he will be ecstatic to embrace her and give her the Oscar for Little Women. There are over 20 categories that he could have been assigned to, but they put him on Adapted screenplay duty and it's giving me a migraine already. I just hope this is a good omen. I already believe that Greta might just win, but, it can easily go the other way.

I'd be amazed if LW doesn't win for Best Costume tonight and I'm rooting for it to win Adapted screenplay, but I think that's going to Jojo.

It's sad and very unfair. Being more diversified was eligible for an international film winning BP, but not for a woman winning at least Adapted Sreenplay. Meh...

I saw LW again at the weekend. It's so beautiful and perfect movie! I wasn't so exhausted and the circumstances were much better than they were last time I saw the movie. I could enjoy every moment of it. Great movie!

I've read LW book. It's not for my age, but definitely a charming book, I really enjoyed it. Actually, the story depicted in the movie/movies is in two books: LW and Good Wives. For that very reason the movie missed a lot of chapters and little stories from the book, yet the story remained complete. Greta succeeded in filming the essence of the book(s), the characters are as equal as in the book. After reading it you can realize how perfect Greta's screenplay and directing was.

I'm not into classical music at all but when I heard this during 1 of my favorite scenes in LW, I thought it was absolutely beautiful! I found out what it was via a comment someone made on youtube. And I downloaded it right away to put onto a CD.
