I saw it at a test screening and I have to agree with this. Both Saoirse and Florence were very good in it. I'd never heard of Florence before this but I thought she was a scene-stealer too. Timmy is also very good. He's actually funny in some parts. But it's like an adorable almost goofy kind of funny. That's the best way I can think of to describe it. lol Thanks for posting this.

I've heard the same about Saoirse and Florence. And that Timothee is very good. But it seems if it ends up being a really good movie, maybe Greta/Saoirse/Florence have the best shots at award noms?? Hard to tell right now but I feel Saoirse has a great chance from everything I am hearing. I also heard the male characters don't do much (very small roles), besides Timothee. But this is clearly a female driven storyline (like LadyBird), so I imagine it focuses heavily on the female characters.

Tracy, I can't stress enough how much of an advantage it would be for you to see earlier versions of Little Women. I anticipate Timothée doing well in his role, but I'm afraid he won't be on any awards radar for this performance because the males in these story are truly, supporting characters. They are there to enhance the 'little women'.

It's true. There aren't many men in this movie. But then again, it's called Little Women for a reason. lol

Your comments made me laugh in a good way. I don't know the story but yeah judging by the title "Little Women" is probably not a male centered story. But it sounds like Greta added more scenes for Timothee than she would have otherwise because she respects and likes him which is awesome. In any event, I will see the movie for Timothee. But I doubt it will attract much of a male audience due to the nature of the story. "Dune" of course I am keeping my fingers crossed should broaden Timothees fanbase with men while bringing along women who already love him.

This is definitely a female type of movie. None of the men I know (outside of Timmy fans from social media) will want to see this. Even with Timmy as a supporting character, I am very much looking forward to it! I have never expected Timmy to be up for awards for this (or The King) quite honestly. I see it posted on social media though with some of his fans and I think they are being quite optimistic, shall I say, ha ha. But that is fine, I just can't wait to see all of his upcoming movies but Dune will definitely broaden his fan base!

When I went to the screening it was a mix of both men and women but more women I'd say. I think the age range that was allowed to attend was between 16 and 50 something. Afterward they talked with teenagers only to get feedback from them. Oh, I don't think I mentioned this, but Greta was at the screening. Too bad Timmy couldn't be there. Although I'm sure it would've been total pandemonium if he had been. LOL

I dont like they asked only teenagers their impressions. They should have asked everyone to maybe hear different perspectives about the movie.

That is really scummy to ask kids what they thought of the depiction of a 140 year non-fantasy fiction.
Now that I think of it, one of the questions was probably:
Q: Do you think Laurie, played by the gorgeous Oscar nominated actor, Timothée Chalamet should have married Jo instead of Amy?
Q: What was your favorite scene featuring Timothée Chalamet?
I've answered similar questions on screening surveys. They want to use the kids to market some of their key characters based on feedback.

Wow, they only talked to teenagers? I am surprised though, considering the subject matter and the era of this film. Guess they only care about the younger viewers, but what else is new!

I don't believe she has a big role but there is a lot of negativity regarding her (saying she can't act). My friend who went to the screening said she was good/credible but obviously not in the same league as the others. I haven't seen any of her movies, so I have no opinion on her but some are being so harsh on her, it is sad actually.

Well, they did ask everyone to fill out a questionnaire after the movie. So they did get the opinion of everyone there. But I guess they wanted even further thoughts on it from teenagers specifically. Emma Watson was ok. She's not my favorite actress but I thought she was ok in it. It's not like she stood out or anything. Honestly the 3 that I thought were the best were Timmy of course lol and Saoirse and Florence P. Those were the standouts to me.

I am surprised many said that they really enjoyed Timmy and Florence scenes considering not many like Amy with Laurie in the 1994 version. Do you enjoy their scenes more than Timmy with Saoirse?

I think Timmy and Saoirse have a natural chemistry after working together before and that it showed on screen in LW. So I did enjoy their scenes together over the scenes with him and Florence.

Heard the same thing - Saoirse, Florence and Timmy are the standouts. Of course we are all biased towards Timmy Someone even said it was the Jo, Amy and Laurie show, ha ha, which is just fine with me! I am a fan of Saoirse too and she and Timmy do have great chemistry. I don't think I have ever seen Florence in anything but she definitely gets praised a lot.
