^ Fifth row is fine, give your neck a break and enjoy Q&A better. I doubt I'll be that lucky, hope I can get my butt inside, period.

Do you recommend using a ticket resale site for possible tickets?

There's no guarantee that the tickets are legit, could be a scam as TIFF is cracking down on reselling.
But if people are desperate, they'll do desperate things.
Wait until single ticket day before you resort to ticket resale sites as tickets are much more expensive if sold that way.

I'm hoping I can get into the Ryerson screening, if I can, I'll try to get two tickets as backup to help someone out.

Well, I just finished my ticket purchase and Beautiful Boy is off sale for all three screenings. I have to try again on single ticket member sales on Sept 1st. This is so fucking frustrating!! I got tickets for everything else I wanted to see, but not one ticket for BB.

^ Thank you. I had hoped to avoid that because I'll be flying home to Michigan for Labor Day weekend, and now I'm going to have to accommodate at least an hour on that Saturday to be online to TRY to buy a ticket to any screening of Beautiful Boy. It sucks, but, I have to try.

I was very frustrated earlier today in failing to obtain tickets through the proper channels of TIFF today. My purchase window came 4 days after it started and I knew it would be slim, but still, I was really bummed out when I couldn't get a ticket to the Ryerson screening on Saturday. My TIFF buddy from Toronto who used to be my sponsor when he lived there and was at the patron's level Silver or Bronze. There were times in the past when even he couldn't get tickets as they sold out by time his window came around, which was maybe like a day and a half later after member sales began. In those times, it was impossible for him to get a ticket on single ticket day, and other times, he had to trade with friends who were at the same or a level higher than him.
Anyway, I was stressed out in anticipation of today's sale, and I did not sleep well last night. After today, I knew my sleep would be messed up for the next few days in trying to get a ticket. Also with my flying home to spend the holiday with family, I didn't want this stupid black cloud hanging over my head. So I heeded the advice of my friend to either focus on doing Rush, which is a complete waste of time and even more stressful, or go to stubhub and see what's available. I'm not a completely desperate fool, and I had a limit of $125. I was getting concerned when I saw a ticket for $175 at Ryerson, another one in the nosebleed section of the Elgin for $280. By luck and refresh, I saw one for the Elgin for $100. I said, 'Fuck it', and I got it.
So, I'm all set, I can't see the Predator now, but I'm ok with that.
If you think you have the patience to wait in the Rush line, go for it, it's MUCH cheaper. If you still want to go for single ticket sale, good luck to you. But if you go to Stubhub, know the limit you're willing to pay, there are greedy people out there. I only paid $50 more face value of my ticket.

Another person I know had to resort to Stubhub to buy a ticket to the Friday night Elgin screening of Beautiful Boy after she tried to get tickets from TIFF today. So if this is something you feel you need to do, you're not alone. Just set a budget and stick to it, there's no need to break the bank for this, but I totally understand the strong desire to do whatever you can to attend any of the 3 screenings. it's just a very popular film at the festival. Good luck. www.stubhub.com/Search 'Tiff' Scroll down until you find Beautiful Boy tickets for sale Select the ticket at the price you can afford to pay

After a crazy mix up with a ticket I originally purchased at Stub Hub, I had to cancel that order, get a refund, and go in with another fan to buy a pair of tickets at Stub Hub that appeared more legitimate (and they are). I'll write more about the TIFF ticket craziness on my blog after TIFF, but to say I was frustrated and confused is an under statement! But alas, me and Christie will fan girl together at the Elgin when we go to the 8pm screening.
Needless to say, the demand for tickets to Beautiful Boy is just phenomenal. In all the 14 years I've been going to TIFF I have never, never EVER experienced such craziness in trying to get a ticket to one of three screenings. So if you're still trying to get a ticket, you have three options: Stub hub, same day sale at box office, Rush line.
