Thanks for posting this. I had no idea how these premieres worked. So we can't get tickets to see the movie but we can try to see him on the red carpet beforehand, right? That's what this means?

Yes Jenna, I'm 99% sure this is the standard private invite only premiere for those associated with the film and industry folks. Great care will be placed on the red carpet as that's where fans may have to line up many, many hours in advance to get a good spot to see Timmy, the cast, and other A-listers. This is free, but no tickets are available for purchase to see the film.
There are instances of public screenings premieres where the tickets are free and based on first come first served. I attended one in LA for a Ridley Scott film two years ago.

Thanks for all of the info, Simone! Yep, I'm definitely going to try and see him on the red carpet beforehand.

Thanks for the info, learnt something new! I imagine the red carpet will be crazy and if going, one would need to get there REALLY early. Don't know if I would have the patience to line up for hours and hours, with all the screaming girls. But maybe one time, if I was in NY

The NYC red carpet is going to be insane. It'll be Venice 2019 and Toronto 2018 combined. I imagine people from the surrounding states will be there, and some will fly in just for this experience.

Yes, I'm sure it'll be crazy too with all of the fans in or around the NY area. I'm sure too the only way to be able to actually see him on the red carpet is to get there VERY early. The only thing is, I don't think I can stand for that long. LOL So I'm not going that early and I'll just hope for the best. lol
They haven't announced which theater or what time yet, have they? It would help to know in order to finalize my plans of going.

Once the venue is announced, I expect on the day, people will line up starting at 6am, or as early as security will allow them to do so. Once it gets 5 people deep, which it should be by noon, it'll be impossible to get close enough to see Timmy. So, you know what you have to do to enjoy it. Good luck to you. I don't have a game plan yet, I'm just thinking things through. The TIFF red carpet left a not so good impression with me, and that has nothing to do with Timmy, he was an angel. It's the waiting around, standing for 5+ hours, and dealing with the silliness of the fans nearby. Once Timmy hits the red carpet, it's a fucking zoo. A ZOO!

Thanks Simone. I've never been to 1 of these premieres but I can only imagine what a mob scene it's going to be. I really do wish I had the stamina to go that early and stand on my feet for that long. Maybe I could've done it years ago but now not so much. lol

Because I have been attending TIFF annually since 2004, I have had my fair share of waiting along the red carpet for favorites. But each time, it gets more difficult because you know you're wasting a lot of time just standing in the same spot, just waiting for the start of the red carpet, and hoping that you got a good spot where your favorite will stop buy. I've been lucky quite a few times, and left immediately. But there were some times where it just got downright scary and I left. I tried to do this for Brad Pitt, and, that's a whole other level of madness. People around me, superfans, crazed fans, and scummy autograph collectors, all vying to get in front to have access. The squeezing, pushing, and having complete strangers press upon your person is NOT a pleasant experience. So when I did my time last year at TIFF to see Timmy, I swore I couldn't do it again, I would have to be content with Q&As in LA.
But this premiere at NYC has my interest piqued and I'll see what I can make of it.

Simone, I need your advice and maybe the advice of other fans here. Yes, the thought of waiting hours with screaming and sometimes too overly emotional girl fans does not appeal to me for some reason. But for our man Timothee I would make an exception and wait hours with any fansv... although I will probably be somewhat of an outlier as a young male fan ... can I call myself "young"?!
Ok, what I need advice is whether it is worth the time and expense to do a red carpet in NYC or stick to my plan of trying to attend the red carpet for "Dune" next year in Los Angeles. First it would be totally odd for "Dune" not to have a big budget Hollywood premiere. Second I think I would have a better chance to see and maybe say a few words to Timothee for a photo and or autograph on the red carpet in California if i camp out really early there. NYC does strike me as more madness. But I have never done a red carpet event.
Anyways what an exciting time for Timothee and to be a fan of his!

It seems like you have made up your mind and are favoring waiting it out for Dune. However, the LA redcarpets are just as bad or maybe worse than in NYC because LA is the Hollywood capital. But if you are to do a red carpet for the first time, LA is the place to do it. But what if there isn't a premiere for Dune in LA, you will have held out hope for one all for naught. I know that you are in your early 30s so you will fit right in with the older-young fans, and there are a LOT of male Timmy fans, gay and straight, so no stigma there. I would say that if you can afford to go to NYC for a 2 days and devote the time to the red carpet it'll be fun for you. But one thing I want to tell you, do not expect to have a conversation with Timmy, he will have security and minders with him, especially in NYC. You'll be lucky to get a selfie or autograph, if that. Neither LA or NYC will guarantee you exclusive moments with Timmy so please get that out of your head. He will devote as much time to as many fans as possible and because of that, if you're lucky to engage with him, it will literally be for 3.5 seconds. Because you adore Timmy so much, I would say go for it and go to NYC and give this red carpet experience a try. If you fail to meet him, at least you know what the RC is like and you can weigh the pro and cons and prepare for the LA red carpet and be better prepared. So, go for it and good luck!

Thanks Simone! You always have sound advice. I do want to assure you that even though I would of course love a selfie and/or autograph, my head is on straight. I realize the odds are extremely against you due to crowd size, time, etc. But one of the reasons I do love Timothee is that despite his extreme popularity and A list status, he does make so much time for fans on the red carpet in comparison to his costars. The videos of him in Venice with fans are very moving to me. My goal would be to get in the front of a red carpet spot and hope he comes by for a handshake or selfie. I would of course die right there haha. The problem with my dream is two-fold: getting to the red carpet in time to be in front AND hoping he actually walks by your spot when the madness starts. A lot of luck and praying involved.
With respect to NYC, I am not that prepared financially for a NYC trip in two weeks. I honestly did not anticipate a NYC premiere of The King. If it happens in California, a DUNE premiere trip would be more thought out with a vacation plus sightseeing. And DUNE has other costars I would die to see on a red carpet. BUT I have not ruled out NYC just yet as you say to maybe try a red carpet. Of course, if I go, I would love to say hello to you too! I want to hear first about the venue and time since I am very busy with my job these next few weeks.
P.S. I hope DUNE is a massive success so that maybe Timothee does a few conventions in which you do have few seconds to meet a star. I will tell you meeting Patrick Stewart and Lana Parilla who are two acting heroes of mine was a dream come true for me. I have also had some cool encounters with Marvel stars. I hope I can add Timothee to the list one day; but if I cannot that's fine too. I will support him near and far!
