I'm very excited about my upcoming plans later this year to visit Paris, London, and Bristol/Wales. The pandemic canceled several planned trips to the UK and France in 2020 and 2021, but I'm going in December! I'll spend a couple of days in London first, but I wanted to make sure I could catch a play at The Old Vic. I wanted to support the theatre by seeing a play there, as well as get the experience of going there as a patron before Timmy's 4000 Miles play goes into production. As per my initial tweet below announcing my purchase of a ticket for A Christmas Carol on 3 December, which The Old Vic replied to, a few people DMd me asking me if I heard anything from Old Vic about 4K Miles. No, I did not, and below in the IG post, I made my speculations about how this might all play out. https://www.instagram.com/p/CaDVYo-PqCD

Right now, I am not planning any vacation back to London and England until we get more 4,000 Miles details. I may cry when it finally happens and we are at the play because who would have thought in late 2019 we had bought tickets to a show that wouldnt happen for at least four or five years in the future!!!
2024 is my 40th birthday year (though not until the very last day) so please dont depress me by looking THAT far ahead just yet haha!!!
If 4000 Miles happens ... and I agree with a lot of the points that you are making ... I think spring or summer 2023 is most likely. Dune Part II is going to take some time to shoot this year in the summer and fall months as it should so that it is another masterpiece. I wonder what Timothee will do work wise between Wonka and Dune Part II shootings. I bet he vacations and works on Going Electric musical prep.
And I have faith and optimism that the theatre experience will actually be close to normal next year and beyond including no masks and some version of the stage door. I really think 2022 is a transition year for the Western world where all people just learn to live with the virus (look at last weekends Superbowl) and if you are still unvaccinated at this point, well I think you need to protect yourself. But I no longer feel obligated to change how I live to protect you. Get the damn shots is my mantra. One example in my life of normalcy is that on March 14, which is about two years to the day since lockdowns, I am REQUIRED to return to the office several days a week. I am excited to see more events and activities progress in this direction.
And finally A Christmas Carol is one of my all time favorite stories and not just for the Christmas season. The stage production at the Old Vic sounds awesome! And so Charles Dickens appropriate being in London during the holiday season!

As usual Anthony, thanks for your thorough response. I'm glad you share my sentiments on what I speculate in how this could play out. Spring/Summer of 2023 would work for me, but my visit to London would be shorter than my previous plans due to my December 2022 visit. I'll be there for a few days tops for the play and I'm fine with that. Pushing 4k Miles into 2024 will test a lot of people's patience, but I think diehard fans will hold tight, including myself.
I agree, 2022 will be a transition year for cinema and theatres as people will still be required to wear a mask and some regions lifting the mandates. As I just tweeted this morning, here are my thoughts about mask-wearing, especially in sold-out theaters for film and plays:

I'm definitely holding onto that theatre ticket for as long as possible even if it's 2044 haha (and Timothee will still look like he is 25 by then). I'm so looking forward to the play one day and first round of English drinks on me when we meet up for that performance.
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on masking. I respectfully disagree on the need for masking at this time. But I think people need to do what they think is best and we try to respect each others choices. All I can promise you is I'm not one of those idiots who gets into fights on the plane, for example, with people over the masking policies. But when I have a choice and its optional, I'm mask free.
And I continue to hope this darn pandemic is in the rearview mirror soon so more and more people just feel better about living and going to crowded events.

I get what you are saying with the images but my comfort level of sickness risk is just different. I've entertained indoors, been to restaurants and bars, and even did Disney World recently. Life is all germs and bacteria ... I mean how did we live and function PRE 2020 haha?! I used to go to the office with full blown colds; the blessing with remote work though is I can now avoid doing that in the future. I am basically living life like 2019 and I do credit the vaccines and booster shots for that normalcy at least for me.

Easy to get infected in recent circumstances, especially with a highly infectious virus like the omicron variant. I was a bit careless once and got infected. Some weeks ago I met my friends from Berlin in a bar, we didn't wear a mask because of drinking and we just talked, no coughing, no sneezing. And almost all of us got infected. And I started wearing a mask when traveling from Sept and almost no one did it. I wanted to be safe more or less from every virus, I tend to catch cold. So it's not an easy choice.

Thanks for sharing your situation Martina and I'm so glad you are well recovered. Just last night in the theater, I saw next to two creeps who were making commentary throughout the film, and of course, they weren't wearing their mask. One kept belching and had a slight cough. I'm like seriously, what the holy fuck? Thankfully I was wearing my mask, and the seat between us was empty. If I weren't with friends, I would have moved to a different row.

All I will add is even the most super cautious and extremely careful people I knew still got infected with the Omicron variant. December and January I think it had to be about 100 people who got infected in my life or close to people in my life. No family was spared. Everyone I know recovered well because they were vaccinated. I may have had it in January too, but I tested negative. It is hard to tell the difference between a cold and this virus sometimes. My point is the virus thanks to omicron seems to be so ubiquitous and maybe that's a "good" thing if we get to herd immunity. But I understand we all have different risk and comfort levels with hanging out with people especially indoors. I've gone to the movies with no masks. But I would never go to an event these days if I was outwardly sick or coughing. I just pray case counts continue to drop so more people feel better and safer.

There is of course a solution to stopping COVID19 in its tracks. "Stop seeing Spiderman!"

Nope, wear a mask while seeing Spider-Man in the theater. Thank you, Simone. With my mom, we had the same situation in a theater in Dec. A coughing guy in our row without a mask, though it's mandatory to wear a mask in theaters. As for the symptoms, they're like a cold, but it's not the same feeling, I felt a bit differently. So I knew it wasn't cold before getting tested.

Saw on Facebook that someone spoke to the theater and was told that 4000 Miles won't be happening before Fall of 2022. Which, I guess we kind of knew since Dune 2 filming starts in July. But thought I'd pass along the info anyway.

You're welcome. It's a shame that it's not happening anytime soon.

It has to be 2023. I'm sure of it! I know that sounds like a long time away but how is it March next week?!
