I love the Oscars as a grand film tradition. But the test of a good movie for me is not how many awards it does or does not win. But rather whether I rewatch the movie many times for years. For example, I have gotten hooked back into Jurassic Park a 1,000 times since 1993. Wonka is a movie I know I'll rewatch for years especially around the holidays. It definitely makes you feel better when blue. Another 2023 movie I highly recommend is The Holdovers. I'm adding it to my Christmas film collection.

Most films I love are ignored by the Osars. Wonka will be a film I watch regularly. And The Holdovers is my favorite film of 2023.

As much as I love Timothee in Dune Part One and I am dead certain Dune Part Two in a few weeks, Wonka is probably his biggest boxoffice success to date even if Dune Part Two outgrosses it. The Dune movies have more of an ensemble element to the characters led by Paul Atreides of course. The spectactular worldbuilding in Dune can sometimes overwhelm the characters. But the success of Wonka falls almost entirely on Timothees shoulders. If his performance had been subpar there is no way Wonka would have made over $550 million worldwide. I think it is pretty impressive what Wonka has done on its budget. I am looking forward to a sequel. WarnerBrothers played this movie smartly despite any haters and unreasonable doubters.

I couldn't agree more. Wonka is Timmy's movie, and as we saw from Dune Part 1 and now Dune Part 2, this is an ensemble film to the max with Timothée as the Lead Actor. Wonka overperformed to everyone's pleasant surprise, and the success of the film ensures at least 1 more Wonka film featuring Timmy, but I reckon that there will be at least 2 more for Timmy's own trilogy franchise.

WarnerBrothers and hopefully Timothees hatfull of dreams came true! And if you go to Wikipedia for 2023 in film, Wonka has now surpassed the Little Mermaid in financial gross. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_in_filmBe honest. When 2023 started, would you have predicted Wonka beating Little Mermaid and the House of Mouse! I don't think I would have. Congrats Timothee and Wonka team! Sequel sequel sequel!!!

I think Wonka was a great success both financially and critically. And another great success for Timmy.

For Wonka to be as successful as it is, I did not expect this. I knew it would do well, so all this grand success is well deserved for such a fun and enchanting film.

$600 million plus is just scrumptious, chocolate 🍫 melting delicious! Timothee can buy a whole line of Cartier stores with the money that he earned from the movie's profits!
Now here is an interesting thought experiment for you guys. Does Dune Part 2 make more money globally than Wonka? Don't get me wrong, I think Dune Part 2 may very well may make more money in the $700 to $800 million range. But Wonka is a family movie based on a popular character released in the middle of December in time for the holidays and that had legs through the winter boxoffice doldrums thanks to lack of competition and mostly great reviews from fans and critics.
Dune Part 2 is geared towards science-fiction nerds like us and probably appeals to more men than women watching the movie in theatres. Of course, the counter to my arguement is that the four young leads including Timothee are really popular with women around the world and who hopefully will pay money to watch the movie. That being said, Dune Part 2 faces more stiff competition in mid to late March from other big movies.
I think Dune Part 2 earns more than $600 million globally. But if it doesn't, it's because it isn't Wonka for the reasons I described above.

I believe Dune will reach the $700, possibly the $800 global mark, which will be quite impressive as it will nearly double what Part 1 did. But remember, that was still at the height of the pandemic and Part 1 was aired on HBO Max day to date.
