Oh, I'm tired of people bringing up the same criticism about the movie over and over again. It was Luca's directional vision and decision, the end. And actually he is right.

It was one of the few movies I was waiting for in 2017. It's absolutely worth the waiting!

The actor who played Oliver all but killed any discussions about sequels for CMBYN. I always thought it was just wishful thinking on Luca's part, or just giving readers what they wanted to hear. But after today, I'm 100% sure any future film(s) on CMBYN ended today. https://www.instagram.com/p/CKAcpShg3Ah

I'm indifferent to AH, and I think he's not a good actor. I just read his issues. If there isn't a sequel because of him I'm totally fine with that.

I literally don't know what to make of this scandal. I don't want anyone falsely accused of course, but several women are substantiating the claims in the media. And when a celebrity or other public figure remains silent or doesnt quite clearly say without equivocation "I DID NOT DO THIS" then I am more likely to believe the accusers. I am definitely listening to the women as we should.
One thing that also leads me to think the man whose name I dont want to mention is potentially guilty of some crazy messages and disturbing behavior is why drop out of a film if you think the allegations against you are BS. I don't buy the spend more time with family excuse. I hate when politicians say it. And that goes for celebrities as well.
All I can say for sure is that I am glad I am a Timothee Chalamet fan. We are all capable of darkness and evil, but I just can't see Timothee ever behaving in that manner and anyone accusing him of that type of wrongdoing.
P.S. I chose my comments very precisely since this is a developing scandal. Why dont people especially celebrities realize that the internet is forever and that whatever you say or do will be discovered one day or leak out. The lesson is never learned.

Oh he was definitely fired, and the insurance bond dropped him so he is totally uninsurable. All talent have insurance bonds to cover losses due to illness/death/etc, but to now be deemed uninsurable, that is the death stamp on his career, even porn stars have insurance bonds. BTW, he lost 3 jobs in a 24-hour window. The industry believes these allegations as they are not new, there are just witnesses willing to share their very detailed stories. Here's more information on the necessity of insurance bonds: source: www.netquote.com/health-insurance/news/uninsurable-hollywood-stars

Hot take here but I never wanted a sequel to CMBYN. It ended perfectly... bitterwseet. It happened. It was good while it was good. Now it's over. Move on and don't turn back. When Find Me came out I read reviews and a full synopsis. I don't think it's the story that any fan of CMBYN had wanted and even if it had been I don't think it would have the same effect. I think there will always be much more interesting and fulfilling projects for Timmy to be a part of.

Even way back in 2017, I knew in my heart that I didn't want the then 21-year-old Chalamet kid to be pigeonholed into this one role by repeating it some years down the road. And after I saw how feverish a segment of the fanbase became over the movie, and shipping the characters and real-life actors, it became a turn-off and I just hoped there would be no sequel. Find Me deliberately went on a different tangent. It's done, there will be no CMBYN sequel, there will be no re-casted actor as Oliver, it's done.

That's so interesting about the insurance and how it works with actors. We are potentially watching a career implode in realtime.
And I dont want Timothee pigeonholed either in unnecessary sequels but can we at least get some Dune sequels pretty puhleeeze. Haha. I think he is so perfect for the Paul Atreides role and I am just going off the trailer!
But we continue to this discussion in the Dune thread ...

At first I didn't know if it was real because lets face it, people can manipulate things on social media, very easily. But then as more women came forward, no way this was fake. Agreed there will be no sequel now, which is fine with me. The original is a classic, it was 3 years ago, and I have moved on. I know others haven't, so I am curious how they are all dealing with it (some are massive AH fans). Luca mentioned quite recently he was writing a sequel (not using Find Me) but I can't see him continuing now. I imagine AH will lay low for a long while. But he is screwed now - can't imagine anyone will hire him. I did like him but thank goodness he wasn't one of my favs. I would be devastated if this happened to one of my favs. That being said, I take no pleasure from any of this. Just a sad situation for those women involved, Elizabeth (even though they are divorced now), his kids and I imagine Timmy, who idolizes AH and I did love their brotherly r-ship. Can't imagine they'll have that same relationship now.

I love CMBYN the book and the film. Whatever AH did or don’t do, I don’t want Timothée’s amazing performance in that film to be reduced in anyway. I really enjoyed Find Me, and like André Aciman’s writing in general, but this bringing to an end any talk of a second film is probably for the best. It would never live up to the original film. I am ambivalent about AH, if his career is over then he only has himself to blame.

Thanks for your input Tracy, I knew you liked AH much more than I ever did, and I know people like you had to wait to review all the alleged evidence before you made a comment about it. AH's career is pretty much over as he's uninsurable and if someone wanted to hire him in the future, this saga would be bad PR for the film. So he's done. What I did do this week was support Elizabeth Chambers' Bird Bakery by buying some cookies and the beautiful tote bag. I did it as a sign of solidarity for a woman-owned business, and out of sympathy for what this embarrassing news has done to her family. Remember, she has two very young kids who will read about all of this when they come of age and be very embarrassed. It was the least I could do, while also satisfying my chocolate chip cookie sweet tooth desires. I tagged Bird Bakery in the IG post and they replied back. Very nice. I'll be doing some grocery shopping this weekend and I'll use my bag. It's a gorgeous bag. https://www.instagram.com/p/CKC6xV7AQ8w
