Another update on how it is doing internationally - so well and it is only in 6 markets. Has more countries it will open up in soon. They expect around $80 million domestic + internationally after this weekend. "After beginning limited overseas rollout in late December, Sony’s Little Women continues marching to strong numbers. With two Golden Globe nominations on Sunday, the Greta Gerwig-directed update of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel has enjoyed notable post-Christmas launches in the UK, Australia/New Zealand, France and Spain. Through tomorrow, the film is projected to hit $20.2M in just six international box office markets and on 1,700 screens. Domestically, the Friday take for Jo & Co was $4.42M as the ensemble looks towards a $12.8M three-day weekend, bringing the North American cume to $59.3M through Sunday. This would put Little Women at about $80M worldwide though tomorrow." deadline.com/2020/01/little-women-international-box-office-greta-gerwig-saoirse-ronan-emma-watson-1202820655/#comments

Greta won Best Director at the Natl Society of Film Critics today. I hope she gets an Oscar nom - not sure, but crossing my fingers. LW is peaking at the right time.

Little Women needed this nomination to have a realist expectation to be nominated in Adapted Screenplay for the Oscars, which it can win there.
A BEAUTIFUL DAY - coming on the heels of successful documentary, so won't win here THE IRISHMAN - losing steam, people questioning validity of Ed Sheeran's accounts JOJO RABBIT - Not on the radar as of late JOKER - Joker deviated from the DC universe, made it all darker, might be a strike against it LITTLE WOMEN - gloriously refreshed this oft told beautiful story. Audiences and critics are responding positively. May earn $100 million by next weekend.

The Irishman and Joker are its biggest competition. But I can realistically see Little Women winning this.

The Irishman seemed to be the front-runner early on but it has lost a little bit of steam and LW is peaking, so hopefully LW can take this!
Tomorrow is huge with the DGA's, PGA's and the Bafta's. I am really nervous about the DGA's - will be tough for Greta to get in. Gotta figure Bong, Tarantino and Scorsese are locks. Than there are Mendes, Baumbach, Phillips, Waititi. Crossing my fingers!!

DGA foretells the Oscars, so whatever director lineup we get from DGA tomorrow, there's 99.3476% chance it will be the same at the Oscars. Just on principle alone (and to troll Sasha), I want Gerwig to get a nomination. What she did was phenomenal. She won't win as I predict her to nab Adapted Screenplay, which is like the consolation prize for those who aren't destined to win Director or Picture.

I just hope she gets nominated for the DGA's/Oscars but I am not majorly hopeful. So we'll see. If she does, she ain't winning, but the nomination would be great. Her best shot is Adapted Screenplay, for sure.
